Well Looks like im probably gonna hold on to the 900 for another year. Been tossing around all sorts of ideas and have decided how its gonna go down. Im gonna lighten it up as much as possible on a budget. Got another project sled most of the funds are gonna go to. Anyways, For the summer im gonna build a Chromoloy Tube tunnel for it, A-Arms, spindles, Lighten all of the turbo parts i have now, and Maybe Redoo the Rear skid in Chromoloy(copy). Anyone have any ideas to get this thing real light? Gonna stick with the 166.
Here is a pic of the Rev i made a tunnel for last year and loved it. Have some new killer ideas for this one.

I like it! It will be interesting to see what a tube tunnel does for this sled. The thought crossed my mind a few times as well, (but I have a few things to take care of first). Seems like the one single component you could cut pounds from easy and gain performance is the rear skid. Otherwise, put it an a scale and take parts off til it weighs what you want!

I like your style. That is a Great Idea. Anyone have a good goal for a dry weight for this project? I personally would like to see 480 turbo'd

dude 480 boosted...SICK..

love the dedication you have going there as well..i would love to see the tunnel concept you come up with...

with all you guys in the custom fabing biz...why has NO ONE designed a pair of wide running boards as a kit for the 700/900 boys...i would buy 3 sets of them RIGHT NOW...

hint hint hint hint...;)

good luck man, i cant wait to see what you do..

I got the hint Sean, with Josh going tube tunnel, I am playing with the idea of another lighter design. I all goes well i will try to build a few for my 900 buddies:peep:

I would definitly be interested as well with a tube chassi with wide running boards i plan on boosting my 975 soon.

Keep us posted nice work guys

I dont understand the theory behind the wide running boards. On the rev tunnel, I made them narrower than stock( same width as the 9) and i love them. I just see the negetives of wider boards
-Drag more when sidehilling
-more weight(more material)
-track will not trench as deep in sticky spots(I almost made it : )
-more leverage when something catches, More likely to bend

I love going down steep hills and flipping around on the hill to go back up. Most of the drag in this situation is from the running boards. Could just be me though.

Any Cool ideas on cooling the mofo

the fabcraft u-cooler on my 900 does a good job, i rarely see the 130's on the trail with it on hardpack snow with scratchers down, in the pow 115-120 is normal

p.s. carbon fiber everything...wtf is a budget?

Haha How right you are. I havent done too much with carbon fiber but it looks sweet. The reason i ask about the cooling is I want to Hook up the cooling lines on my turbo. Also thinking about incorperating a Snow to air Intercooler on the top of the tunnel. Any one have any thoughts or experiece with one of these?

I wish haha. The sled is on the back burnner compared to my POO-DOO in the sled building section. I did just get my new set of pistons in for the 9. figured i would rebuild it for the summer while the motor is out. Also got the sweet new rear mounts (thanks SEAN) installed, and got new pucks for the front Compfusion mounts. All should be going back together this weekend.

I am changing the turbo set up. Going with a 3071 From Percision Turbos. And deleting the oil injection. Well see how it goes

Some of us have big wide feet added with HMK boots.... Some have been lead to believe that wider boards F with your ride much more than reality and all your deep snow performance is lost. Some also believe the sun rises in the west.

Many of the people that say this wouldn't be able to sell their products if this wasn't typed all over the boards. Van Amburg sells them for the RAW. The IQ I rode last season in the deep with the wide boards felt no different in handling then mine.
