ProClimb 1100T Review Revised

I had reviewed a production ProClimb 1100T last month and posted it here.
My review was mostly negative. Since then, I have taken delivery on my own production 1100T and spent the last week with it.

My opinion about this sled has changed 180 degrees. First off, handlebar/riser position makes a huge difference in how the sled feels/acts. The sled I rode and reviewed last month in Utah had the riser tipped up so it was vertical. This put the steering position about 6" forward of where it would be if the riser was parallel with the steering column. The forward riser makes the steering awkward for maneuvering and the front end feel HEAVY. My sled I left the steering riser parallel with the steering column. My sled, in the powder feels lighter than my 2009 M1000. On the trail, to the powder, it also steers easier and soaks up the bumps 10x better than the old M chassis.

The handlebars are still too low for my liking. They need to be about 3" higher. This will be solved shortly

Power: unbelievable. Yes the turbo has some lag, but once i got used to it, it was no longer a huge factor. On the dyno, with nothing but a can, we were seeing over 160hp and 120 ft lb of tq at 6300 rpms. It is a monster once it is on boost.

The sled rolls over onto its side to side hill very easily - almost too easily. This will get some getting used to, but it is definitely more maneuverable than the M1000.

The fit and finish is POOR. Lots of goofy stuff on this for a production sled. the fuse wires resting on the aluminum belt guard is plain stupid. My secondary bolt was cross threaded from the factory. Changing the belt sucks as the secondary bolt is not long enough to reverse the hold down washer to open the sheaves like the previous model. Air filter holder is an abortion as is the breather tube. A arms should have been welded across the front of the attachment points. Front bumper is a JOKE.

With that said, I still love the sled. It is the true successor to the M1000, but better in every way except for low end power delivery.

We are going back on the dyno this week and see what kind of hp we can make at elevation with the stock turbo. More later.

With a can you were only seeing a 160hp?? Man I would think you'd be seeing WAY more than that....like over 180hp.
Thanks for the revised review. It sounds this machine rocks but needs to be fine tuned to each persons liking while also getting used to the different power band and learning to work utilize the turbo properly.

Just guessing but isnt the 177hp they claim at the crank? If so 160 at the track is probably pretty good.

What he's saying is it has the same hp at half throttle as an 800 has wide open.

This is exactly what I felt with the 28 miles I have on mine. I stayed under half throttle and it felt as good or better than a 800 and i did not have the can on it yet with the can i expect 5-10 hp more at the same rpm as stock.

what about the clutching?? going downhill?? backshift??

Clutching seems ok although it is hard to tell right now. I am still getting used to the power delivery. On the trail I am seeing 7950 which is beyond the peak hp of this engine, but the hp remains fairly constant between 7600 and 8100 rpm.

We did not play on the hills too much to I can't really say about going downhill.

Backshift is ok. I am sure there will be more to be had. Right now we are going to focus on reducing lag.

opinion

I looking at purchasing a sled and want you honest opinion the best all around sled for a mix of boondocking and climbing out of the sleds you own (1100t, M1000, nytro sc/turbo). Which sled would you purchase if you could only have one?

M11T WOULD BE LEAPS AND BOUNDS BETTER THAN THE OLDER M1000, THE NITRO IS AN UNBALANCED VERSION OF THE M11T THE JUST FEEL SLOPPY!

I have been on M series since they came out. Seems to me that very little of the riding style from the M's translate. As I am getting more seat time, I am really beginning to like it. In a way, you almost have to learn to ride all over again. For me, that is part of the fun as it is completely new and different.

Main thing for me seems to keep the nose up and stay in the boost.

I agree that fit, finish, hood system and air filter suck.

Overall, I really like it and will probably get to really really like it with more seat time.

One hinderance has been lack of snow. Jackson Hole got punded pretty good this week, so after a good day yesterday, heading back out tomorrow.

Without a doubt the 1100T. M1000 feels old school. The S/C Nytro I can't get used to.

We rode all day in about 1' of fresh. I can tell you that the 1100T sidehills better than the M1000. There is a very steep short hill that we always tear up where we ride. I rode it across the face, turned down, turned up, pointed it straight up - all with less effort. For climbing - hands down the 1100T.
