Problems if you ride without watercooling?

Has anyone had any problems with their Garret turbos when not using the watercooling?
See that the first kits was without it...
Was thinking about the BD pump gas kit, below 10psi...

No problems here. I talked to a couple different pros regarding the same question and I was told that is not necessary. One was an aircraft mechanic who told me that plane turbos are oil cooled only and on some of the twin engine turbo charged plane models you can actually see the turbos glowing red at night.

I wouldn't do it. The Garrett gt ballbearing turbos have very little oil flowing through them between the low oil pressure and oil restrictors they reccomend. The water jackets are there to help cool the turbo because there isn't enough oil supply flowing through to get have adequate cooling. This is different comparing them to journal bearing turbo's that don't come with water jackets because journal bearing turbo's take a ton of oil and oil pressure that helps with cooling the turbo. You can get away with it but it will decrease the life of the bearings in the turbo.

Water cooling

Last year BD did not come out with cooling hoses. Now they come with them that is because they found that they will fail. There is some kind of Teflon or material in the bearing housing that will fail with to much heat come apart get in the filter and stop it from oiling I saw a lot of turbo go down last year because of this.
