Pro vs. RMK

I have two questions: 1) I've never snowchecked so is it stupid to just go snowcheck and take the MRSP or is it a no-brainer to look around. I see some of you are getting some pretty good prices compared to MRSP. I have a new dealer to my area which I'm excited about (like him to do well), but $1000-$1500 off is pretty significant. 2) WE shocks and Pro Taper bars that much better than the regular RMK. $1000 difference??? Anyone else ordering regular RMK. Could get low windshield and different sidepanels with $600 accessory $$ to spice it up a bit??

I like the Pro Tapers and the WE coil overs are good shocks. I replaced the fronts because they bottom out a little too easy, but they are light years better than the old WE's on the Dragons. There are a couple light weight features like the brake disc, bars, bumper, flap and other goodies that lighten it up. But...I think that the $1000 difference could be used for upgraded shocks, your choice of bars (RSI, Pro Taper, Fabcraft, etc) and other goodies. I'm not sure you can snow check a standard RMK though. I'd still go for the black/orange Pro RMK myself.

On the pricing...tell your dealer that you like his place and you want to keep business there but you see other deals out there that are below MSRP. Don't let him sell you on setup. THere's not THAT much setup on the Pro's. Tell him you will be buying your accessories from him too. He makes money on that stuff.

heres what i had put together when comparing pro vs std vs assault.

pro vs std ($11,599 [$11,899-163] vs $10,999)
9# lighter (431# vs 440#)
163" track option
no front heat exchanger
drilled brake rotor
hollow jack shaft
ported tail flap
pro taper handle bars
cf bumper
walker evan shocks

assault vs rmk ($11,999)
15# heavier than pro, 6# heavier than std (446#)
2 1/8" lug, competition track (stiffer durometer)
wider ski stance (41.5" vs 39")
walker evan shocks w/ remote res.

Pro's don't have an heat exchanger but do have ice scratchers and you want to keep them down if snow is marginal or hard.

The weight differance between the pro and standard will be closer when you put the extra boogie wheels on to save your hifax :face-icon-small-win

Extra boogie wheels don't help keep the sled cool, scratchers do. I use mine anytime there isn't much fluff on the trail - they work awesome. Keeps the motor temps down and lubs the hyfax.
