Pro Taper Risers

Looking to see what guys and Gals are using for Bar risers on their Pros with the SE Pro Tapers? I find I need about 2 more inches of Height as I'm 6'1 and finding myself hunched over a bit too much. Pics would also be great. Thanks!!

What type of riding are you doing? Most people that are super in tune with this chassis are finding the bars are high enough if not too high for most riders. The old consensus of make the bars as high as possible is out and pro riders and designers are finding that tall bars actually inhibit your ability to control the sled as well and climb steep things. Even Burandt at about 6 feet is running bars that are about 2 inches lower than stock, and people like my bro Ryan Nelson @ 6'3" find that the bars are about right. If you still think you need a riser than all the more power to ya, I'm just saying maybe you just need to get a bit more used to em first before dishing out extra cash.

lol

my buddy put a 3" block under his pro tapers. he's about 6'2"ish I'd say. I watched him put it together, didnt look like anything was stretched too far to cause harm. the brake line has more slack in it towards the caliper itself. I cut all ties and loosened the brake line when i put my 6" riser on my RMK

I'm 6 ft and 270 , the first day I wasn't so impressed with the pro then added a 3" powermadd riser and cuz i wasn't stouping over I just loved the machine , I'm sure the athlec tipes don't need it but it sealed the deal for me

I'm 6'1 with my heels on and on a 2011 Assault. I ride 90% standing even on a 100 mile day. It's just more comfortable. Stock was really good, then I put a leftover 3/4" spacer I had and it helped. Put a basic 2" riser on and now it's perfect.

Only thing is when I pulled one of those big *** Burandt moves, I hit my chin/helmet on the mountain bar. I may just take the bar off now.

personally I think straight risers are the best bet on these machines based on how they engineered where you stand compared to where the bars are set. pulling them back would push you back a bit and it doesnt take much difference in your body position to change where this sled is going. BUT--personal preference. this is just my opinion

I don't think they are talking about the height of the bars so much as the forward positioning - straight up and down & tall - that some dingle dumb jumper parking lot posers insist on running... No way that helps anything other than...jumping maybe, heck I don't know. Check out Bubba's supercross/motoX setup vs some double back flippin setup - guess which setup works best for most moto riders.

I found the stock Pro setup pretty close, but at 6' I was still not in a relaxed neutral riding position - a 2" riser worked really well for me with the bars basically aligned with the steering stem... Risers are a pretty cheap addition in the grand scheme of mods...

i'm lucky, the stock bars hit me right in the middle of my hands when i'm standing on it. i would say height would have little to do with it considering i know some peopel who are 6 ft and have midget (little people) arms and others who look like gorillas, as long as i don't have to hunch over then i'm good. looks like there is a lot of options out there for everyone though, i remember when people were first starting the transition to standing up about 3 different risers were all you had to choose from, now i sit on an old zr i used to ride and i can't figure out how i used to ride it.

Heeeyyyyyy now!

mine works great. you have to take the pullback of your bars into account. I'm 6'2" and I love this setup. It's only 2&3/4" taller than stock on the regular rmk

6'6" and added a 3.5 inch ROX riser, thats about the max you can go with stock cables...probably 4" would make it with some rerouting

Glad it's working for you - everybody should play with the simple adjustments like bar position, ski stance, sway bar, suspension adjustments...they're free!:face-icon-small-win

Hell...I was just remembering the good 'ol days...

Bought my first sled in 98 (99 aniversary RMK 700).

I put aftermarket bars on which included a STEEL mountain bar....I used to hang my helmet on it when I had my lunch by hanging it face down through the face hole...perfect fit to cave my entire face in had I ever had the misfortune to faceplant into them....thankfully I never did.

Riding around with your knee on the seat...

You talk about RISERS?...it litterally felt like the handle bars were lower than your knee's...arse in the air and all.

I had the LONG TRACK put on after market......144"!!!...it would climb anything, provided it was spring and it wasnt too steep.

Twin SLP pipe's....new piston every 3 or 4 weeks...warranty

My avy shovel banging around under the hood.....no back-pack on....

Suspension????? suspension was for FAGS (still is).

The seat tore after 3 rides...but it was warrantee'd...ONCE...the second time they told me to stop wearing boots with metal clips...which I have adhered to ever since...

You physically COULD NOT BREAK THAT HOOD! Believe me, I tried. My mate cracked his (it was un clipped at the time and suffered 20 straight barrell rolls down an icy mountain)...waranty

BETTER BOARDS??? WTF??? there were and ARE no better boards than the boards on the '99 RMK! flat, polished aluminum with no holes....it was AWESOME...it was like skiing AND snowmobiling at the same time, only, more difficult.

Man....the good 'ol days....

Now the only time I sit down is when I have my lunch, and the only time my knee hits the seat is when I climb out of the 4ft cavernous trench that I just created before I got stuck in some tree-well.

I sure sucked at riding back then...they used to call me "parking lot", as I'd get stuck in a snow bank in the parking lot before we even headed to the hills...........not much has changed on that front.... but now - at least - I make it out of the parking lot...I sure showed THEM!

Longgold, not old enough to comment on the above. But, that is some good chit right there.

Did I say something funny?

Yes...

The OP is asking about which riser to use. Then you imply that he is not intune with his sled..mention some known riders and how THEY might like to ride THEIR sleds. Make sure we know your talking about pros....and that your "friends" with one. LOL

I find the whole post comical. Your not one of those guys who talks about Burandt and other riders all day on the mountain? Why not do what you feel is best instead of what others tell you.

If somebody told you to wear bright colored clothes to get noticed...would you dress up like a rainbow...or continue to wear what YOU like?

...yes very funny
