Wanting to remove battery, wiring and starter on '12 Pro 800. Battery, wiring, and battery holder no problem. Haven't worked on starter yet but when removed is there a hole that will need a plate over it or how is it covered?

Nope, 2 bolts holding the starter to motor. The starter isn't "covered" by anything. It just bolts to the case and sits there.

What I mean is after the starter is removed is there a hole in the case that needs to be covered with a plate or something or do you just unbolt starter and leave as is?

Just unbolt starter motor from chassis, then remove the three bolts that mount the pinion gear to the engine block. That pinion gear engages with a ring gear that sits on your clutch. When done, that ring gear is the only thing left......unless you swap your clutch. No openings to cover whatsoever.

Remove your silencer and pipe to make the job easier. Removing your primary would make it simple, but it can be done without removing it.

Good luck!
