pro rmk ripped track

hi guys i just wanted to get some opinions from guys who've run those sled more than I.

I got this pro rmk 2015 last year, got only 1600km on her because of the poor snow last year.
Yesterday in a trail riding to reach some real snow i started to hear banging under the tunnel. Slowed down, walked my sled and i saw this giant chunk running around...oh ****.

so i my buddy went back getting the truck and i went ot the dealer with it,

Dealer told me the usual...they've never seen something like this but he's gonna try to pass it on warranty.

I got ZERO paddle damage or other damage and and it delaminated and ripped apart.
I haven't seen anyone with such damage either on the internet.

I guess my second option is my insurrance if the dealer doesn't pull it off.

here's the beauty > http://i.imgur.com/KkGnccN.jpg

i left the sled with the dealer, so i can't say myself right now and it's closed until monday

i guess the cap is in the front?
my track was pretty tight, i've heard of stabbing with loose track only. Can it happens with a properly tightened track too if i lost the cap?

Check the bolts on the bumper i had my track get torn apart by the bumper bolts all you have to do is pull them and flip them around put the nuts on the outside but you should see flex by the bolt holes if that is the prob.

like i said rich i can't see the sled until monday.
When we unloaded from the truck the sled we grabbed it by the rear bumper and it was tight but i'll make sure when i can see it.

most pics of track stabbing i've saw was both side at the same time. My right side track is in perfect condition.

you're a real asset to this community! i'm sure you knew everything about snowmobile after one year of ownership.

I think it looks like a stab but I could see a bolt doing that too. When mine got stabbed it tore one side of the track. But mine was because I didn't loctite the antistab and the left wheel unscrewed itself. If it was tensioned right and the rail caps are there I don't see how it could stab.

When the rail stab the track my guess is that there sould be evidences of it on the rail and the cap should be gone. So it should be easy to diagnose. I want to know why and how so i can avoid a potential problem in the future.

So we'll see what they say monday. I'll keep ypu posted guys, thanks

With stock, untrimmed, rails... and drivers on a Polaris... It would be very difficult to stab a rail through the track.

Is the limiter strap broken or missing?

Did the limiter strap shaft come undone?

I've seen that same kind of damage when someone ran over submerged steel "T" fence post.... something similar could do that or even a branch if wedged in there just right.

.

Wife did the exact same thing on a 155 Pro running a 153 Powerclaw with 8 tooth 3" drivers, untrimmed rails, track tension in spec.

My guess on hers was that she ran over something at some point and broke a fiberglass rod and tore the track. Probably rode it for miles and miles after the fact and the rod continued to flex and the track tear got bigger, until a big chunk flew off similar to yours. We were ripping down the trail (60-65 mph) on our way home when it happened.

Disregard the d!ckheads on here, keep asking questions and build your knowledge base. When I started riding sleds in 2009, I had years of experience working on roadracing motorcycles (AMA,WSBK, Motogp, etc) but didn't know what a hifax was or what an ice scratchers function was.

If you do need to buy a replacement track and aren't looking to spend a lot of money-- or deal with an insurance claim after the deductible--, there are a ton of Polaris series 5.1(stock track on a Pro) in the swap meet for cheap.

hey thanks
I've looked around me on the net to find a used one already, i live in a very low populated are so it's not that easy to find here.

I've learn a lot since last year, but i still have to build more knowledge and ability with my sled.

i'll be able to answer these monday, i wouldn't be surprised i runned over something we don't have a lot of snow yet and we can hit the bottom pretty fast

Geeeze cut the guy some slack......There is a gazillion things that could tear a track......stabbing only being one of them. Check to make sure that stabbing was not the culprit.....and move forward from there......

Plenty of tracks on the net for sale.....match the pitch and length....best deal and go. Tracks USA usually has some good deals on new, or take offs.

talked to my dealer and i don't think i'll be able to ride before the weekend. Polaris was still closed today. his other source the track was backordered
i told him to inspect everything down there to make sure is wasn't a stab or a rubbing of some sort which i start to doubt honestly.

he told me he had plenty of axys and pros in the shop that hit something over the holidays time we had and i'm the best of the bunch :face-icon-small-hap.

if polaris can move their asses maybe, maybe i can have it before the weekend but i'm not holding my breath for it.

being in canada there's no way i'm buying and shipping a track over here, with the exchange rates and the customs

Curtis at Tracks Canada can probably set you up with somebody's take-off. You are in the wrong part of the country for 163's. Lots of tracks on Kijiji out here.

I don't think you had a defective track. Looks like the tip of the rail caught somehow.

Just bought one on eBay for $315 Canadian shipped from the US with 3 missing lugs. Can't beat that...

There's 2 more on eBay at a reasonable price, shipping was a little high for Canada but would be fine for US adress. Would be about $200 said and done

Just got me sled this afternoon with a brand new track.

No apparent damage, rail cap is still intact and and no trace of stabbing. Looks like i rode on something.

after thinking a bit.....
I should have told him to get me a new 2.6 :face-icon-small-hap

Still waiting for polaris to answer the warranty claim.
