Im thinking about snowchecking a new polaris just wondering what would be the snowmobile for me a Pro RMK or an Assault Switchback. I like going to the mountains couple times a year but also like to ride around home and ride the trails.

i live in washington and still want a 144''. i just put a taller lug track when im in the mountains and when i go back to MN i put a lower lug track on. so deffientally go with the switchback. thats my dream sled too.

First off i am from ND. I bought a assault switchback and it is a great sled but the suspsension is very soft i have rode a 155 pro and i wish i would have went with a pro just a all around more fun sled

Have you ridden ur assault out west? and if you did how well did it do? I have ridden an assault around home and it goes like a raped ape. In march im going out west im gonna rent a pro for a day and see how i like it.

2011 pro rmk 155

I am selling a 2011 pro rmk 155, it has 1050 miles on it, fully ceramic coated exhaust, black skid plate, extra belt, tunnel bag, cover, 2 windshields, and extra idler wheels. if interested call 1-920-948-1757 ask for Brian

no i havent taken it out west i am sure it would do fine but not as good as a pro but i have read on here that someone took one with a 2 inch to the snowies and he said he kept up with M8s but my mine has done great around here and is really easy to ride in powder

Buy the assault. Snowcheck with a 2 inch. I bought a rush, an assault, and a pro this year. The assault is by far the most fun. The pro heats up on the trail like crazy. The assault wheelies, climbs, boondocks. It does it all. Just my opinion.

I've taken my assault switchy to the Snowies and can't say anything bad about it. Went everywhere I wanted to go and then some. Only a 144"x2" track but I didn't get outrode by any mountain sleds in our group.

They should have put a 146 non torsion spring rear in it like the holz kit for the 2009/10 assault........ they have the cobra, camo extreme and the comp track for that length and alot of guys did and do well on a 146 assault with a camo extreme.

agree 100%

If I don't trade my sbAssault in this spring for a '12 i'll be looking for a 146 Alpha X or Mtn Tamer... Other than that it is a pretty BA sled. BUT my dad loves his 155 RMK all around too... decisions decisions... (oh and the stock RMK has the extra cooler up front so if you do run on trails with scratchers it doesn't get hot at all...)

Don't make your decision until you see the 2012 line-up. Remember that the Switchback with a 144 x 2" shoe was offered the year before in an RMK same length.

I have one of each, Pro 144x2 switchback Assault and a Pro 155 RMK Assault, the 144 will go just about anywhere the 155 will. 155 gets warm on the trails pretty easy. 144 is my favorite for tight boon-docking and speed on the trail. The 155 is nice for fresh powder days ,side hilling, and cornice drops. Just my $.02.
