Who has come up with a better system for these engineering fails? Great sled, but man I hate those little bastards. Anyone know of an aftermarket solution, or perhaps a Snowest invention guru? Anything seems like it would be better than the current system.

Warranty?
2 of the 4 on my sled are hard to use.
When I'm done for the season I'll have them look at them.

Still snowing here so I'm not sure when the seasons going to end.

What a great season you have over there, still snow and snowing, I think I have to come over and se your mountains some time!!
Here in Sweden the season is over since first week in may and now we have to wait until late December befor next ride!
It will be a long summer, have snow checked a Assault Rmk.

The 1/4 turn plastic gizmos look interesting. I've had the hoods off of my sleds a bunch and have replaced a few clips - they're pretty cheap. I'm not sure what has to be re-invented - lightweight fasteners at 50 cents each are kinda hard to beat. It looks like an opportunity for a "Better Clip". :face-icon-small-hap

Agree

Yeah - I have to agree. Nothing like fumbling around trying to find the center of the clip when everyone in your group is ready to go tear it up.

Those plastic clips look interesting put flimsy.

Seems like I read somewhere that someone had bypassed the 1/4 screw/ clips and installed extra rubber straps.

the plastic fasteners are what they use alot of times on your windshields. they also use them alot of times in the automotive world. my wifes car uses them to hold on a small plastic skid plate to the bumper and my old truck used them in a few places to hold the bumper cover to the actual metal bumper. i have seen them in wheels wells to hold the liners in.

I agree, but I think we also need a quicker way to remove the hood or to make it hinged would be better. I miss being able to setmy helmet under the hood during quick breaks. It would also be nice to have access to a muff pot. I thought fsttrax was working on something, but i haven't seen anything.

I can't believe you guys are having such a hard time? I throw my goggles on top of the engine quite a bit and have had little problems putting the male end into the little hole and turning. :face-icon-small-hap

Ya , great season for shore , heading to Revey Monday night for three days of riding .

I know some of you hate the Dzus fasteners (1/4 turn fasteners) but I like them. I removed the two push pins on the hood and installed two more Dzus fasteners-- you have to relieve the plastic a little bit so that the head can turn fully.

I have to admit it takes time to get used to them but I have removed even the hood so many times that it is a breeze overall. I like how you can set everything aside and get at the whole engine compartment. The clips on the side panels you are referring to are a lightweight version of what is most commonly used for mounting custom panels in custom vehicles. And they are pretty durable in my experience. The clips are easy as long as you push them in hard, even though I also have 2 of the 4 that are harder to find center. I love the compact and sleek design of the hood and side panels. The old lift style hood was great to just lift up but also had it's drawbacks, especially in a rollover. You have to admit the functionality of this new style has it's advantages. And the fit and finish is as good as the looks.
