Pro rmk clutch broke off!!

Bought new pro 2 weeks ago put almost 250 mi on, clutch snapped off right behind spider anyone else had this problem going to take it to dealer on monday hope it just a fluke, awsome sled

ive been seeing this problem since they switched to the big taper in 2007... might not have anything to do with that, but maybe..

this crank in the pro has been around since 08, you hear of one here and there but really is a fluke, my guess, a flaw in the metal, sucks for sure but I doubt it is any major issue, hopefully your dealer can get it fixed and right back on the snow....

If you get a chance I would be curious what the serial number on the motor is... should be located by the pull starter.

Not an isolated issue (or fluke) as some may say. I believe I have read about it before on here.

I am glad you were joking. I just bought one today and was gleaning info about the sled............how did your snowboard run?

heh, snowboard ran great. Surprisingly they don't often have electronics failures.


To the OP, sorry for the hijack and I hope you're back on the snow soon. I've seen no sign of any sort of clutch epidemic and I'm VERY well aware of the common issues on the sleds. I think you'll be just fine once this one is replaced.

since 08 i have seen three clutches do the same thing two on 08 dragons and one on a pro its not uncommon but not many have it happen but it is not an isolated incident

update

Got sled back from dealer today, talked to serv manager he stated they got clutch off crank, checked run out ,all was good @.0005 he states not realy shure what caused issue he thought material looked little pourus in spots at break . New clutch on now and ready to ride

seen just a few all in the same spot so I guess it's time for poo to upgrade the drive clutch

Happened on my 2011 Assault last Friday and my fiance's Pro RMK about a month ago. Both covered by warranty but a very frustrating problem!!
