Pro Rmk 600 and Pro Rmk 800 driveshafts gone.

First off, the interesting part.... a 600 blew a shaft finally. Makes you wonder how long until more of them?.?.

And now I will just make the statement that everyone else is thinking: Why is anyone surprised anymore that shafts (600 or 800) are breaking when they are not running a collar of any sort? There are many options available, whether it be free or $100. Put one on or don't complain when it breaks. :deadhorse:

It's like saying: "Every time i hold this lit match up to this paper, it starts on fire! This is bulls**t!"

Collars havent reached all Norwegian dealers yet.

These are the first breakdowns, of alot sold Pro Rmk's here. Almost everyone got more miles on them than these that broke.

This is all fine and dandy, but MOST people DO NOT read sled forums. I'll bet 90% of the new Pro owners have no idea there is a problem.
I just received the letter from Polaris that I should bring my machine in to get the collar update. I've been riding for a month. So how else does a person find out??
I understand what you're saying but it's not fair to say everyone knows.
For the record, I did install an HTP clamp at the 50 mile mark, and haven't had any issues. I too would never have known unless reading the forums.

Not many locals here that are members on any snowmobile forums, so not many know of these problems.

RE: Pro Collars for Norway

We have good inventory of Happy Face Pro Collars and the ablity to produce as many
as needed quickly.
With the features designed in our collars if they are installed with adhesive
You should never need to worry about a driveshaft failure.
You should have your dealer contact us about a wholesale deal if they do not want to wait for Polaris collars.

Pretty sure my dealer wont do that, im not saying your collars are not better, just that i think he wont risk any problems with warranty for customers, since Polaris has been so strict about the aftermarket collars, and the need to photo the broken driveshafts to get new ones.

I don't think polaris has been strict with anything that has been done to the shaft. Weather it be aftermarket collars, riveting, etc. Get clamps on your shaft ASAP.

I would be waiting for the Polaris fix if i had a Pro Rmk. We all got warranty so if it brakes, there really is no problem getting it fixed again.

Agreed that not all riders are on these forums, but you would think that if someone bought their sled through a reputable dealer, the least the dealer could do is call the buyer and make them aware of the issue and the fix. Of course, that could be asking too much from some dealers.

Sundvang, did you check the run-out on the quickdrive prior to the failures?

My '13 Pro got its first 35km last saturday, and it held up fine.
I visually checked the runout on mine and could not see anything wrong.
Did stop and look at the driveshaft all the time during the first trip, looked fine.

Btw, good to see a fellow Norwegian Polaris rider on Snowest :)

But they sure find the forums after the shaft breaks...:face-icon-small-win

None of those in the photos are mine, so dont know if there were any run-out. I bought the 2013 assault with the old driveshaft.

Weird thing is that some tend to brake after few miles, and some are still holding up after many hard miles!

Big Ling,

Have you heard of any failures with your collar design? I have seen 2 of the Polaris collars fail to date but I know of some others on the 4M here but your design is wider so it looks like it should hold the twisting rotational force through more surface area?

To date with several hundred of our PRO COLLARS installed on all kinds <O:p</O:pSleds from stock to high HP turbos we have no cases of failure.
<O:p</O:pThe features designed into our PRO COLLARS go a long way to help prevent a catastrophic failure. <O:p</O:p
As seen with the un-flanged designs where the clamps have migrated allowing the drive shaft to blow apart.<O:p</O:p
