pro rear skid

How many guys have started to play with the rear shock set up on the new rmk? Polaris advertise the rear skid as being tunable to snow conditions, have you guys tried and different set ups yet? what kind of results are you getting? I have a couple of rides on mine now and have left it pretty much how it came from the dealer, so far i am really happy with the performance.
Cheers,

I'm thinking that maybe the way to go.. just want to play with mine some more before I drop another $900.00 into it..

that fox setup is pretty sick, how about some feed back from guys running more of a stock setup, not that im against what u got there but that $1000.00 in shocks is a $1000.00 more i can spend in fuel.:face-icon-small-hap

I threw in the Assault shock. Remote reservoir, bigger shaft and it's ajustable with the clicker nob. Need snow as 3"" isn't enough to test suspension and ride sled.

I'm with ya and hearing what you are saying! Total discussion not some this is best or that is best internet argument.

I forgot qualify my comments based on my own personal riding experience on 4 different bone stock demo PRO sleds last year and the 2500 test miles that were put on another PRO with a variety of customized walker setups. Then I combine that with the feedback from Adams and Burandt who participated with the FOX engineers to make what we have now.

But the question really is...WILL I FEEL THE MO GISSEL ($1,000) OR NOT! and...like I said ..organize a test and you tell me.

I was gonna hafta completely re-do my suspension no matter what sled I went with so I bought the standard RMK and threw in the whole Fox front & rear setup custom valved for me and how I'm gonna ride the sled. These Evols are gonna be an awesome compliment to what looks to be an already awesome sled. Oh, and as far as price, you're gonna need more than $1000 to get the front and rear setup together. we're talkin Fox shox not stock shocks

i havnt played with mine to much but im gonna have to have them revalved i think. i have the center pretty stiff and i can still bottom it out pretty asy and the rear is pretty good for my weight but im also under 200 with gear on. It does transfer a little more then i like but i think i can solve that with the rear shock but ive been having to much fun riding the damn thing

I've got the front shock preload cranked and plan on adding a reservoir to it with some heavier fluid for a slower rebound, and I've been playing around with the rear shock compression and it works great to control ski lift and weight transfer. This is on the Assault of course.

I was bouncing on a 40-50 foot hit today and am going to need a little more control once the snow really flies and the jumps get bigger.

thought that was going to just be ur deeper snow day.... see how long that idea lasted lol.. yea i think ima have my front one redone for sure. the back one is still up in the air. dougie praises his exit he has on the rear of the turbo sled so will see whats out there for now.

Haha yeah didnt last long. Still gonna use the IQR for squirrel flats days and spring riding though.

The exit's are bomb, no doubt.

My shock guy is coming by monday to see if he can add rezzy's to the front shocks for the RMK guys

Does the exit rear help in being towed? :D :D

im sure it does. doesnt he have more miles on it hoooked to a bumper then the motor.

back on topic ive thought about if i can find a rear assualt shock for cheap that would be a good upgrade. remote rezzy and clicker adjustable should make it a lot simpler to adjust while out on the trail. just gotta wait for more ppl to change them out and then start giving them away.

another gain from the fox shocks is unlimited setup possiblities, loss of wieght ( around 2 pounds per shock on the front and probubly more than that on the rear)

After runing fox evol ski shocks for 3 years, my main chamber finaly lost a seal and won't hold pressure. Not bad for 5000 miles of abuse eh?

The assualt shock is a longer length. Not saying it won't work, but alot of people say it hinders your performance. I ran longer shocks on my RMK and i htought it was fine. To each his own. Although you would be better off buying used IQR front shocks. YOu could get them cheeper and wiht some good upgrades posssibly (titanium shaft, springs, triple rate springs, remote resivors ETC). that's what i am runing till i get my evols back in action.

im talking about the rear shock. not fronts. i will never run an air spring shock. 60 miles in the back country and u blow an air seal. no thank u. ill stick with a good set up coil over any day.

I cranked my rear shock all the way tight for first ride and did not like it. It steered hard and had little transfer. Set rear soft and mid harder. We will see on next ride.

The thread topic started was "How many guys have started to play with the read shock set up on the new rmk?"

Why do you feel the need to advertise your $1,000 set up, Chris Burandt's business, Dan Adams business and how much "testing" time you have over everyone else?

The thread is about set ups for stock sleds. Maybe you should go sell your product in a different section.

That's exactly what makes you a better rider!

I only have a day’s riding on my new Pro and here is what I thought. For a stock set up that doesn’t have any adjustability other than spring rate, I thought it was pretty darn good. The wt transfer on mine, as set up seemed a little light but the steering was a good balance so I will have to see if softening it up a bit will result in a trade off that isn't to my liking. The rebound on the rear seemed a little springy. I think I would like a bit more rebound damping. Overall I loved the way it road and handled compared to my dragon. Very nice and very happy.
