Has the 2013 pro 800 pro motor been more reliable than 2011 and 2012?

Do you think they have made any more improvements to the 2014 motor?

I blew my 12 up a week ago and am not too sure about trading up to the new 2014 or switching to........hate to say it......cat. I have been left stranded 2 times in 3 years with 2 differnt sleds and one cost alot of moola to helicopter it out. All the cats I ride with have had small issues with belts and minor things but not one has left them stranded.

Almost 1500 miles on my 13 still running strong.
Pistons will be replaced at the end of the season.

I've got 1600 miles on my 11 and a friend I ride with has 3200 miles on his 12. No issues with either of them except I had injectors replaced in mine. Motors still running strong. And we are still running the original belt.

We were in Yellowstone a couple of months ago and rented sleds from HIGH MARK in town,

They have a fleet of 15 POLARIS 800 rental sleds there.

MTNTK piston kits in ALL of their 2012 800's

3,000 + miles on all (9) of their 2013 800's with NO engine issues

2,000 miles on my 2013 800 PRO-R 800, still runnin' with the original plugs!

Looking more and more the 13 engines are reliable. I hope this is the case. I wonder if it is worth using the rktek pistons anyways. Prefer to leave it stock, but want something reliable.

I sold one of my 2009 800 Dragon RMK to a friend. He put the piston kit in and that sled is a lot smoother and has more power than my 2011 and is as good as my 2013, as far as power.

2013 RMK pro 800 blew crank bearing with 500 miles wrecked entire motor.

My 13 has 1200 miles and is running strong, but my brothers 11 went down at 1500 miles - seized top end. My dads 12 had basically a total engine and clutch replacement due to a clutch "malfunction" that took out the crank. I saw the pistons that came out of that sled. For 1600 miles they looked like ****. Lots of wear from apparent rocking in the bore.

Really won't know if the changes they made were enough to significantly improve the motor life until the second season on these sleds. You really started to see the 11s fail the second season. I tend to think they are improved but still far behind the others. I bet if a lot of people with 13s and 800+ miles looked at their pistons they would be terrified to keep riding this sled in places that you can't get it out of.

My '13 with 1600 miles, at 32 to 1 oil use, pistons viewed through the exhaust ports, still show the machining marks and most of the coating still in place to the bottom of the exhaust port (all I can see).
No scoring ( I sealed my airbox and intake before riding)
Very little blow by (less than my Cat's at this mileage using same oil ratio) idicates my rings are still doing their job and my slow, easy break-in didn't negatively effect ring break-in (but I've seen this before).

I'm about 600 past where some have told me should be the piston replacement point with about 1 to 200 more to go maybe. Then I'll take some real measurements.

For me the 2013 Pro has been the most touble free sled I have ever owned since the old Yamaha days.

I was extremely fussy with warm up from cold and never takling off until the temp stabilized after a hot shut off. Nothing showed at all until it blew up, never missed a beat and never had any problems from new. Just dropped a piston skirt and grenaded the bottom end. Not good!

About as long as every other "theory" lasts. Run it how you run it, if it dies it dies. We have only seen two pro ride "deaths". Pretty good considering what you see on the forums.

Buddy of mine's 12 Pro RMK just went down over the weekend. Not confirmed yet, but he's thinking it's a piston skirt.
