I gotta do a little plastic welding on my hood on my 12 PRO.... Does anyone know what material the hood is made of??? I know the side panels are TPO but could not find anywhere on the hood what the material is.

Thanks,

Ditch

Does it have a "Pebble" or "grain" finish or is it smooth and shiny... What color is it.

Year of your sled?

That would be an HDPE hood. (High Density Poly Ethylene )

Easy to repair if you have the right tools...good idea to add another piece of HDPE behind if there is room for reinforce.

Same part number on a 2012 Pro RMK 163 Orange Madness Hood (no other optional colors on that sled) as on my 2013 Standard RMK hood which is HDPE.

That hood has NO paint on it.

Post up a photo of your break.

Cheers,
MH.

Thanks MH!!

I repaired the crack in the spring using the URETHANE SUPPLY CO. Mini Weld plastic welder. I used the stainless steel screen in the back and melted into the plastic using the wide tip on the welder. I covered it with the fibre-flex rod and then gouged the crack on the surface of the hood and then filled it also with the fibre-flex rod. Only problem is the finish of the fibre-flex rod has a couple holes about 1/16" in diameter and 1/16" deep.... I think I'll sand the surface off a little and then fill the holes and surface with the HDPE rod; that should give me a perfect finish then..... I think it's stronger than new now!!
