Pro Grips/Bars

After season one, I noticed the smaller bar diameter/bend angle on the pro causes an increased fatigue in my hands throughout the day's riding. Been searching through the thread archives...

I'm considering doing the 1/2" trim off the ends of the stock pro tapers and some new grips for starters.

Definitely looking for grips that have a larger diameter than stock.

Any insight or suggestions from those who have been there done that?

FCR,
I tried some aftermarket (I believe they were Fox) MX grips that netted a 3/8ths gain in diameter.
I liked the size better.
I liked the grip better, they were . . . mushy. Also lessened the vibration some.
I did notice a considerable loss of heat from the grip heaters. Also, they didn't hold up well and ended up tearing somewhat. I wonder if it was the cold weather, because I have the same grips on my trail bike (TW) and they are doing well there. ?

I can't help you with the narrowing the bars thing, didn't try that.

I would also say that I like the bar setup on the Pro better than the standard.
Hope this drivel helps!

Thanks, never had any hand fatigue before (on another brand) unless I rode for 4-5 days straight. Any particular issues getting them on and off without damaging the heaters?

I used some odi mt bike grips on my rsi bars.I have about 2000 miles on them and they are holding up great. They are a lot more comfortable then stock.

I got some ODI clamp on's from Michelle this year, for the first week they bugged me because they were wide, then I got used to them & forgot about it, you might like the diameter of these.

I've also used other ODI's that weren't as wide, so it's not a brand wide thing. Love the clamp on's, but not sure how they'd work with warmers if you still have them.

Really, do you think it might be due to the width of the bar that you feel the fatigue? Most guys I know like the narrower steel bars on the base model RMK better than the Pro-Tapers?? Anyway many cut them down shorter but if you think it is the thickness, try wearing thick gloves for a day and see. I don't know why Polaris is not hearing the complaints about the wide Pro-Tapers.

Yes Really... That and the width/angle of the bars. Yeah, thicker gloves... I'll have to try that..........:face-icon-small-dis

I switched from the pro tapers to the fly mini bar. It's oversized for much better strength and 2 inches shorter, which better suites my riding style. The bend is angled back a few degrees more also. I cut an inch off of each end, might have been a ¼ inch much per side. I tried a thicker grip and hated it. I went back to the stock Polaris grip and am very happy with the setup. It's all personal preference, but maybe a different bend would suite you better?
