scott did you ever get around to posting pics? wondering were you hooked the longer adjustable strap. i ditched to rod , dont see much need.

No I didn't, but as soon as I get my sled melted and thawed out, I'll get pictures.

Those instructions are a joke. Why didn't they use some pictures that you can actually see!
I looked at mine for a while, tried to figure it out, threw it back in the bag until I went to the dealership and saw how they did theirs. Then I found a better place for the rod. You can actually bend it up on the left side of the sled and poke it behind a bracket that is already there, you almost don't even need a zippytie on it. Ziptie the lower hook. I used a shorter bolt, going up, with an acorn nut on it to keep er pretty.
