Pro-Armor tether or Polaris

I'm sure this has been discussed before but I need some quick advice. Trying to decide which tether to go with for a 17RMK. I've heard the clips have been known to break on the Pro Armors and the Polaris has caused some cutting out. Just wondering which brand to go with and maybe some part numbers.

My vote is for polaris. I've never had a pro armour but I've personally watched 2 of them break. Jmo.

I have had the same Pro Armor on 3 sleds now with the same clip. I did buy and carry a spare clip in case it breaks. I have been ejected from the sled more than a few times at several different angles and it has never failed me.

I hear some of the factory tethers can be a little finicky and you need to put a screw in the little cap or something to make sure they work correctly and don't cause your sled to cut out intermittently. I don't think you can really go wrong either way.

Pro Armor comes with a cool sticker....stickers are rad.

Where did you buy extra clips? Cant find them on Pro Armours site.
I have owned both and prefer the Pro Armour. When i had the Polaris part it did give me some problems. I never put the screw in it but I'm sure that would have solved the problem

I've reported this before. I had an Pro Amor teether and when I pulled the clip it wouldn't always kill the sled. I had several including OFT Racing tell me it might have been tied down to snug and other ideas. But it still was an issue. That being said, I don't like the way the Polaris teether works. I've had issues getting the rubber to seat correctly. I think I'll do the OFT Racing one again. I'm hoping that my issue was a one off. Nobody else has reported it.

I won't run a Pro Armor on principle. It is fairly well know that a lot of the Pro-Armour employees are illegal aliens and as a result they have some quality control issues as well as the obvious ethic issues with employing illegal immigrants.

Buy whatever your conscience allows. Personally I've always had good luck with the standard Polaris tether. Just don't use the huge / thick washer that comes in the kit, as it is usually way too thick for the cap to contact correctly when you try to use it. If needed a small screw in the center of the cap will ensure contact.

I believe OFT Racing has them. Not 100% sure where I got it from.

My pro armor broke on my second ride. Kinda sucks disconnecting it in the field. It may have been how I mounted it. But went to the Polaris and have never had any issues.

Pay for shipping and I can send you an extra clip.

I won't use a Pro-armor tether again either.

If it is snowing out or you are riding in powder over the handlebars, it has a tendency to stick.
Last thing I want to worry about is a tether not working when I fall off.

I have used the Pro Designs tether on about 4 or 5 different sleds over the last 5 years and never had an issue. Very similar to the Pro armor. Clips seem to be plenty strong and always shuts sled off when pulled in any weather or snow conditions.
