Pro Airbox Question

I was bored and studying my 2012 Pro today and couldn't help but notice the restrictor plate looking double barrel baffle in the airbox. It appears to be very restrictive compared to the throttle body venturi's, although I've never seen any airbox mod's offered for the sled. Was it just my eyes playing tricks on me (I didn't actually measure) or is there some cheap hidden horsepower to be gained?
 
not a good idea to remove that stuff. its there to properly direct air into the engine. You can do what ever you want to help get more air to them.
 
I dont recommend it unless you plan on getting a pcv or equivelant to adjust the fuel map. It will move more air so you will have to add fuel. Just remember pretty much anything that changes air flow on a fuel injected sled requires a fuel map change.;)
 
Fuel injection is new to me, I've been riding old school machines for some time now. I was thinking if the airflow sensor was reading more airflow it would bump the fuel accordingly, just like when your fuelies intake is partially plugged with snow it cuts fuel and keeps on running. What you're saying is when everything is clear (with restrictive baffles) it will feed fuel at a mapped maximum but won't allow above maximum even if the airflow sensor or O2 sensor is reading more?

To my knowledge these motors do not run closed loop fuel injection systems. This means that they do not have O2 sensors to monitor proper AIR:fuel ratios and adjust accordingly. They run a set fuel map based on temperature and static pressure (elevation ). Closed loop would be Awesome, but I don't think the O2 sensors would last long in the 2stroke exhaust environment.
