I'm runnin a 2015 Pro 800 with stock clutching. 9000 to 11000 feet. On steep climbs my rpm's are dropping down to 7650 then crawl back to 7900 then drop again. How can I improve the backshift. I'm over 230 lbs. Thanks.

I'm running mds primary weights with his black spring, black/purple secondary with washers, holds rpm well, also check your temp, I had a 13 that would fade rpm on a big pull or back to back runs and it was getting too hot, I put the trs thermostat mod in and temp stayed in check, seemed to fix issue, didn't drop rpm after. Something to check anyway.

A shallower finish angle on your helix will help if everything else is in check (clean ex. valves, proper clutch maintenance, proper primary setup, etc). Try a 58/40 or 58/38 helix.

From experience...gear it down first. Then clutch it for your weight and riding conditions.

Thanks guys. Running stock setup now. 10-62 weights 140/330 spring. Helix is 56-42-36 havn't looked at the spring yet. Gear down is more than I want to spend. Temps run pretty consistent but I'll check. I'm hoping a simple weight and spring change will do better.

If you are running a 2015 Pro with a quickdrive, why not gear it down with 7 tooth drivers? Only a couple hundred dollars from Avid. Gear down makes a a big difference-- especially since you are 230lbs.

I'm 175 lbs and gearing down allowed the clutches to work better in our heavy sierra snow 6-10000 feet.
