polaris all the way

i am removing the stock 10-68 and installing 11-74 for 0-3000 ft to get rpm's down, what is the difference in the 10 and the 11 weights? have slp set up with pipe set, air intake and v-force reeds, any other suggestions for low elevation powder riding. 2005 900 RMK 159 inch track?

You want RPM's to come down? Whats your max RPM now?
Optimum for the 700 & 900's is 7800 RPM.

11-74's are a HUGE jump in weight.

Plus... 11 series weights REQUIRE the belt side clearance to be re-shimmed... NOT something that many people have the tools or knowledge to do.

Good luck... keep us in the loop!!

what i have found MH is that most clutches running the 10 series weights the belt clearance is far enuff off that by adding the 11 series it get the clearance a lot closer and over half the ones i have done didn't need shimming. just what i have found. i may just be lucky too :face-icon-small-win

Not to be rude or anything but think you need to read up more on clutching. Find Olav Aaeen clutching guide.

The reason I say this is because:

1st-going a drastically huge jump from 10-68 to 11-74 is unheard of unless all components are going to be changed in clutch system.

2nd- you are right on target where slp recommends rpm's to be and going to those weights then you will drop to maybe 7000-7200 rpm's and will not be making optimum power.

What makes you say you have to change weights/springs/helix? If it is a symptom then I think the problem lies elsewhere, maybe all it needs is new primary and secondary springs. I don't know, you haven't stated why you want to go a big change or also change helix and weights.

the service manual is telling me to go to 10-74 weights for 0-3000 ft. i am running at 7750rpm's now with the 11-74. just not sure what to put in for helix and gearing.

The SLP dyno chart on that peaks at 7800 RPM.

What is it not doing that you want it to do now?

Sorry about that, thought you were already at target rpms. From most dyno's I've seen '05 peak hp and torque was around 7200-7400 and '06 was 7400-7600 and with slp pipe was about 7800 target.

For low elevation a 66-44-.46 helix would be ideal. I have the 420719 helix which is 66-44-42-E (.46/.25/.25) 70-46-42-E (.46/.25/.25). The finish angle is same as my fusion(62-42-.46) so just waiting on a 66-44-.46 and see how it works. Have 11-76 and stock springs.

Not sure about gearing as yours is a longer track then mine and geared different. Good luck on your trials.
