Primary spring swap for elevation change

I have an 02 800 summit 144...the sled gets some use in MN but is also used up to 11k.

What would be a good recommended spring or primary set up for out west?

In the past I have changed to alum threaded pins and adjusted weight from there, but am under the impression that changing to a heavier spring would allow me to run the same weight. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Changing your pin weight is easy if you already have the hollow/threaded rollers, but if you want a heavier spring will do it to. Sounds like it will be a crap shoot to hit the right spring . Good Luck

If you use liter pins you develop more rpm when boondockig so try using medium to heavy pins with higher setting on drive clutch or more spring tension on driven clutch.

Have your dealer re-program the MPEM for high altitudes. The primary spring should be OK, you'll have to clicker up 2-3 clicks. We ran hollow pins for that sledd at 10,000+. I can't remember the MJ but it was at least 2 sizes leaner than stock sea level--give Xtreme Performance a call @ 303-654-0867, they should be able to help.

Violet violet

Run the 160-320 in that year 800 @ Cooke it works awesome with 15 grams of pin weight. Clicker 5. Also I liked the Short Black secondary spring with this setup. Your sled comes with the large violet spring. Preferably Team secondary, red/black spring and 58-44 helix this works awesome as well. I personally used to run alot of 02's without the dpm. I would disconnect the dpm and run an aftermarket head like RK tek 14:8:1 and run Vforce 3 reeds, 942 needles, the thing can and this setup was spot on with 310 main jets. This worked awesome from 7500 ft and up. I never rejetted because I never had to it was on the $.
