Primary Finishing rate to soft?

I tried running the 160/290 in my XP and it did not like it with my setup.

160/320 I run clicker 3 and 8100 to 8150 R's all day long.

Went to the 160/290 (with less pin weight) and could not get R's at clicker 3. Went up to clicker 4 and would get R's but primary was not shifting very good, just reving.

So I have a 160/290 team spring with about 15 miles on it..anyone:) ???

I run a 130/230 and 24 mm of set screws and my sled holds rpm? This is the blue/yellow spring that many tuners used on the old revs. Works great for me and rpms are good. 08 xp engagement at 3800, tops at 8200.

(09 163x) I just can't see the finishing rate have that much effect on rpm when fully shifted? Clutch is closed so that is max belt can go, can't go any higher? Can't get my head around it:confused:

I have a 160/350 in it now. I want to load motor and see if I can get lower engagement. I don't think this is possible with the 441 ramp? Engagement now is 3800-4000. Will a 130/290 get me a couple hundy rpms on top and lower engagement. Just tired of spending thousands on clutch parts and then they all end up in a box, some with about .2 miles on them:face-icon-small-ton

You are correct...when you are already fully shifted then, provided the power is there to still accelerate, the engine will gain RPM until it hits the rev limiter regardless of what spring is used.
But unlikely on a Summit.

I'm running a 130/320 (blu/pur) right now with the BB....love the low engagement. The blu/blu will drop your peak RPMs unless you drop a couple of g of pin weight.

The 441 ramp is tall at the start and builds more rpm at take off compared to a 415. So it probably feels like higher engagement.

If you switch from a 160-350 to a 130-290 you should get lower engagement and lower peak rpms.

I use a 130 start and engagment is around 3300.

Thanks guys, at this rate I am saving $30.00 a post. :)Lets see what others are running for springs and weights on 163.

And what is your finish on that 130? Pin weight, altitude, Helix?

On my 09 XP 163 Stock with hollow pins I was a bit low on RPM's
I installed a 160/320 today and added pin weight. I am at about 13.8g. I will Test Sat and let you know how things go. I think I have a bit to much pin weight though. Anyone else try this and have and success? I ride 6-9K

If this does not work I am going to try the 130/320 and take a bit of weight out.

I would prefer to have a kit from DJ but after 4 weeks of trying to get one I am giving up.

With added pin weight and less primary spring (stock is 200/320) you will be even lower on RPM.
Oh...we have our XP setups ready to ship ;)....and we ride the mountains :beer;:)

Winter Brew,

When I took out the old spring I thought it was a Purple-Green (160-260). But from what you are saying is I looked at it wrong and it is a Green-Purple which as you said is 200-320. So I need to go to a 350 finish in order to get what I was wanting. I must have looked at the spring wrong.

PM me details on your kit.

I don't ride a xp, I have a 860 HO in a 07' chassis.

heres what I have

130-350
415 ramps
16.5 gr in clicker 1

Will be adding more pin weight for next ride.

Straight 44 helix
BRP purple spring
Doo HPV button secondary.

I ride 3k to 7k.

I wasn't very clear?

I am Talking Really Light on pin weight and really light on finishing rate.........Like a 240 finish, or even a 200, and 12 grams in pin.....just throwing it out there? I have never tried, and dont really want to.just wondering what happens at full pipe. This with the 441 ramp, and a straight helix.......40 or 42 or 44???????

Sounds like a good set-up.......I liked the 130-350 if they made the free length longer. Revvy on the bottom with the 441. Sort of like Elvis. All show and no go IMO.

Have you tried the same set up with 130-290 in about clicker 3,4?? Little less heat?

Why would you have less heat with 130-290 in clicker 3,4??

Just found that with the profile of 441, softer finish was getting less slip on the top end and better shift with the profile moved in (3,4) With all kinds of set-ups. Tried all sorts of set-ups, going to try Rooster built set-up next and see how his ramps work.
