Something went through my primary the other day... twice I think, and I happen to be missing the big azz bolt I use to hold the clutch open when swapping weights. Anyone have thoughts on whether to keep running or replace? I’d hate to grenade the thing on the mountain, but also really don’t wanna replace it if I dont need. I rode it this way for the better part of a day. As of now I see no cracks.

I think it’s going to wear out your buttons really quick if you keep running it that way...not to mention there’s no way it’s close to being balanced

If you don't mind eventually replacing your crank, then run it and hope it doesn't fly apart. Otherwise, just replace it. A complete used clutch is under $300.

Kind of figured, and planned to... anyone have a line on a good used clutch or moveable sheave? Will probably make a call to indy specialties later and see if I can get one all ready to go from them if I don't find a used one quick like.

I had a exaust spring break and got into my clutches, and gouged them up, pol replaced both clutches.
Try find a legitimate loose part on the sled and file a claim

goridedoo I wouldn't run it until fixed. I had a primary come apart on my old 727 twin pipe giggle gas mod during a hill climb. It wasn't pretty and I'm glad the rules had us add a clutch guard for the class because some peaces shot out the side after mangling the guard and blowing out the side panel, bottom of the belly pan and skid plate. If the clutch guard wasn't there I might not be typing this. Clutches aren't Voodoo science but they do need to be respected.

Toss it. Don’t use it for a spare. The strength is taken out of it now. When it comes apart, which it will, you be wishing ya bought a new one for 350. One days wage is 200-300. A gashed leg is worth at least three works of not working. 200x15 days is $3,000. A severed foot, ankle or leg is a lifelong of missed life’s enjoyment.

If still in doubt, run the above scenario by your family and see what they recommend. Haha

I’ve got a new one coming, gonna send this one to IS and have the sheave replaced along with whatever else is shot, it’ll go in the trailer as a spare.

This stuff happens. A few years ago I cracked a sheave on TWO different secondaries on 0 mile sleds. Hurt so bad buying two new secondaries - you can’t buy just a sheave. You learn good lessons and move on. :)
