Primary clutch weight on back of clutch

Is the weight that is screwed into the back of the primary clutch necessary? My one 05 has one on it and another 05 I bought for parts doesn't. I was going to put the one off the parts sled on my other one cause the owner before me buggered it up, maybe changing out the weights? Any thoughts will be appreciated, thanks!

The ring that bolts to fixed sheave where ring gear goes is what he probably means. And no you don't use different clutch weights with or without it. Duplicates ring gear weight like electric start sleds have.

Don't need it. It may help make it easier to pull over when cold but that's about it. As Spoon said it's there to replicate the weight of the ring gear on the ES models.
