primary clutch sticking

my primary is not opening all the way so the clutch stays engaged. it was still rideable only does it off and on. I looked at the spring and clutch looked fine. Any ideas? anyone.

I was gonna try to take it apart tomorrow. I'm running the stock 08 clutch settings. I think orange spring. Should i do anything while i have it apart? any better spring? Oh, 1500 miles thanks

Take a good look at the spider, It is probably cracked. If not check your lock nut and see if the spider is coming loose. Seen both problems this year.

Also look really close between the movable sheeve bushing and the clutch center you may find a belt thread in their,(use a mechanics mirror ) will look like a cotton fuzzy , my ladys M-6 was doing the exact same thing, on close inspection I found a belt thread had gotten sucked off the side of the belt and between the bushing and the center of the clutch. It would hang up with no ryhme or reason. It took me about a half hour with a really small pick and a modelers pin with a hook bent into the end to dig it out, been no problems ever since!!!!

Your cam arm bushings our bad and swinging off at an angle and catching on the spider, this will hold the clutch from having full shift in or out.
Check them repalce if bad and get a new spring too, 1500 miles is to long on a spring.

take the cover off the primary and take a better look... you will see the prob immediately.
