I am taking out an almond round spring, which I assume to be a Team, and it has a height of 3 7/8". The SLP Black/Pink that I have to put in is 3 5/16". Does this seem to be a problem? The Almond has obviously had a bit of coil bind in its life (paint is wearing off along the windings) so it may have been a bit too long to begin with.

well what i have found is this

polaris almond is a 165-327

slp is a 120-340 # 40-75

slp is a 140-340 # 40-76

looking at the numbers to me is it will engage at lower rpms

and make higher rpms but that just me looking at numbers

i hope this helps maybe a green/pink would be more of a match @ 160/340 # 40-77

I was more concerned with the free length of the springs. Didn't know if the shorter length was by some way the wrong spring for the application.

Free length isn't a useful way to compare them. They are rated at installed and compressed length, the numbers IDPOLARIS posted. Those are the numbers to use.

There is a difference between coil stacking and binding... we should probably start a thread on that. But your almond hasn't been binding. As it compresses the coils start to stack and it wears the paint.

If its been running right for you then put a new almond in it or use the SLP blue/pink which is just a titch different but a good replacement for the almond.
