primary clickers

lets get this straight,the higher the clicker #'s on primary makes your rpm's go up or down? i am trying twins on my 670x, started way high on mains 5 sizes over what was in it from stock and went down a # on my primary to start. long story short jetting was way fat of course, ended up 3 sizes over stock still real fat but it won't hit 8000rpm's even went back to original# on primary no change..will rpm's pick up as jetting is sorted out..checking my plugs at 1/2 throttle would show plugs dry and black,full throttle is wet,?what you guys think keep droppin main sizes, or how do you richen it at midrange? needle clip pos? ckecked the wash the domes were very clean, no black or colour of any kind just clean aluminum...thanx men:beer;

The peak rpm for the 670X is 7850. with twins you might try 420 mains. You can give Crankshop a call they built tons of 670 pipes back in the day to verify

Jetting has alot to do with rpm if your motor is to rich and not making power you can clutch till your blue in the face and still never get it

Jetting has NOTHING to do with RPM's

Glad your not tuning my sled...He stated he was 5 sizes to rich..that effects RPM's.

Get jetting close then dial in clutching and dial in clutching.

Have seen many guys get down while clutching is off and under reving and then once they get clutching working and spinning more R's they are lean and burn down there sled.

with my previous stock pipe and lite weight can, combo'd with a clutching set-up i got from winter brew for the 670x i could hit 8200-8300 rpm it worked well that was with 340-350 mains.when i ran out of jets today i was at 370-380 mains and i might be able to hit 7800 rpms.sled had snap at 4000-6000 thats it,it was a toilet in the bottom end and above 6000 rpm's..the twins is just something i thought i would try maybe get some noticeable gains....:beer;

WHo's twin pipes and what RPM do they say to run them at??
Jetting is more critical on twins...they need heat to make them work as designed and if your a size or 2 rich they will not make enough heat.
Watch your plugs CLOSE...both midrange and top end, alot of burndowns happen with a lean midrange (needle setting to adjust midrange).
Watch the ground electrode, as the burn pattern gets to the bend of the electrode you are getting leaner.....if it creeps down towards the threads you are dangerously lean. Also listen to the engine, if it feels flat or sounds high pitched/crackly you are also likely lean. The pipes will begin to discolor near the engine if you are making heat, if the paint is still like new you are rich.....just a few things to look for to help determine if you are on the right track. :beer;:)

Might want to drop some pin weight, the added RPM will be tough to get otherwise. I'm guessing 8600ish??? Just change one thing at a time and watch the plugs.
Not all 670's respond well to twins, I never tried those particular pipes.

i think for what its worth i'm going back to my previous setup (stock pipe & lw can your clutching setup was awesome, just waiting on my goodwin spring to arrive thanx for the input....
