Preventing Handgrips from Slipping??

What's the best way to keep your handgrips from slipping off? On my M7 after just 2 days of riding at Priest Lake, ID(of which one was a trail ride for the poker run) each grip had slid out AT LEAST an inch. I've heard red Loctite does the job? Anyone have any PROVEN solutions to keeping their Grips from Slipping??? Thanks,

I have used rubbing alcohol to install mine and they stay tight after the alcohol evaporates. I have thought about using the stuff they use to install golf grips, anyone tried that?

A VERY thin layer of JB Weld on the inside edge of the grip works well. You don't need more than 1/2" width and your grips are secure. Just go really minimal on the JBW though or you'll need to torch them off if the need ever arises ;)

I never could get mine to stop slipping, so here is my cure...

seriously go buy some ODI grips and put them on with spray adhesive. They work friggin AWEWSOME. I have had a set on my 1M for 4 years and just got tired of messing with my stock M7 grips (I must twist the hell out of them.

once you try the ODI you will never use another grip. they are that good....

for motocross grips, we take stainless steel wire, like aircraft safety wire, and start on the outside and cris-cross, XXXXX like so, and when you get to the end, twist it off. But start with the cleaning and glueing, as well.

works excellent on dirt bikes, but I have not done it on sleds.

I used very gentle air pressure in the end of my ODI's to expand the rubber and get them over the hooks and heater elements. Then as stated above I safety wired them with stainless grip wire left over from the moto-x days. Snip the twist off short (1/8" or 3/16") and push it into the grip laying it flat. Your local shop or racing buddy will have a set of pliers that make the perfect twist in 2 pulls.

You can then use air to get them (the ODI's) back off if needed and not ruin the heater elements or grips. Good luck. EW

Get some long ODI grips that go over the hooks then cover everything with and old blanket or whatever, take a can of Black spray paint and spray inside the grip and on the bars...slide grip on and let it dry...never had a pair come loose.

I 2nd what RYDPWDR says with black spray paint. That is the exact procedure that we have used on many many sleds both race and free riding. There is some reaction that takes place between the rubber and the paint which adheres them absolutely. If you want to you can then do the motocross racer trick with the wire tie. I love those ODI grips and they seem to really take to the paint trick. One thing that I would add to the procedure is too wiggle the grip back and forth a few times slightly immediately after the push on phase and then leave them alone to setup for several hours.

Clearcoat spray paint works for me on both the ODI and stock grips. If you apply evenly to inside of grip and to bars it will slide right on and won't move within 20 minutes. Nevr had a pair come loose or twist in 10 years of doing this on sleds and motorcycles.
