Pre-Production model concerns

Hi All,
Looking at a '09 M1000 LE 162 with about 500 miles on it. It's being listed from a dealer in Quebec and I'm located in Newfoundland. Thus, not a matter where I can drive and see the unit. Upon questioning the dealer, I'm being told, and I quote "All I can say is don’t worry about a pre-production unit, they are inspected by engineer at every steps of conception, if there’s good machine on the market, those are the ones." Should I feel warm and cozy over this reply? The dealer says it's covered by a 3 month Cat Care Program good at any dealer.Does anyone know anything or have any experience with "pre-production models"?
Thanks..

This has nothing to do with cat. But i ran a pre production 700 VES motor in my old polaris gen two. And it ripped a lot harder than the production ones did. very happy with how it ran. Was one of only nine, and it proved it self many times. They were tamed down some for production. I would not be scared of the sled. I had a good experience with pre production stuff.

I have a 09 M1000 LE with 500 miles on it. I love my sled. The motor runs alot better than my old 07 M1000. This is the first sled that I have owned without $2000 of aftermarket parts. I am thinking about a set of white powder pros, just for looks.

If I knew I could have got one I would have. I would see if you can buy a extended warranty depending on how much it can't hurt. In 06 I road a pre 06 m7 against my buddies 05 m7 that was one of the best on the mountain. His track was in hillclimb position and the 06 was in powder pos. the snow was pretty hard and the 06 left so hard that by the time I was at 60mph he was 8-10 sled length back, wish I could have bought that one. I could have sworn they where testing there 1000 motor.

Where the hell are you gonna ride that in Newfoundland??? I'm thinking you're gonna blow over and hill in the province. haha.... PS. I grew up in the Roddickton, Englee area on the Northern Peninsula. I guess trying a hill in Gros Morne would sure be fun on it.

Hey Ditch1000,

I assume you're not living on the island any more. Funny, my great uncle was the mayor of Englee many moons ago when I was a little yard ape. Haven't been there in years although when we go to the west coast, you never know where you may end up. That would make a nice long trip, from Gros Morne to Roddickton. I was looking at a few 09 M8, but since I'm a bit of a lard ***, fugured the M1000 was an option. Figured a 153" was sufficient, but saw this machine for sale in PQ so started the investigation. The only 2010 M8 I can locate on the island is one LE and it's running $13,900. This 09 M1000 is $9900, so adding approx $500 for delivery lands the unit in Nfld around $10,500. Still not sure which way to go so I'm keeping an open mind. The pre-production issue also doesn't leave a warm and cosy feeling although I may be blowing it out of proportion. I see you have a M1000, any issues with crank bearing, belts, etc.

Pulled the trigger on a '09 M1000 153" SP. With our lack of snow so far this year I've only used it last weekend for the first time. Put around 400 k's on her and love it so far. It's going to be a big learning curve coming off the RX1 Mtn. The unit has a mid range bog , around 6200 RPM's, so I guess I'm going to have to educate myself concerning how to get rid of this concern. It seems to happen when slowly accelerating from a modest cruising speed. I haven't noticed it from a hard pull from a start as you are usually too busy just hanging on. lol
