Pre-filter material-Where can I get it?

What is the product name of the pre-filter /filter material that Skidoo and SLP uses? The 08 XP has almost a square foot of the stuff at the start of the airvent. I would like to make my own filter mesh kits, and I am not going to pay $ARM and $leg from some of the shops.

Auto parts store doesn't have something you can hack apart?

I don’t know if its true but a guy told me once that it is the same material that they use for silk screening.
