PowerCommander V + SLP + Programming = Studder

Installed a full SLP pipe set on a 07 1000 with a PowerCommander V before the season.
While in Cooke on first trip it would develop a studder around the power valves if playing in the trees if you let off it and grabbed a handful, also running a little lean on the trail around the power valves, programmer increased fuel in these areas.

On second trip went to YellowStone, really bad studder around powervalves.
On a wide open run across Hebegon Lake EGT's were around 1200 so I would just burp it so I did not have to stare at Gauges. On one of the burps I lost Pto cylinder, but by the time I slowed down cylinder came back on and ran flawless.

Worked with map maker the next couple days to get rid studder but it would come and go, we were thinking it was the air temp sensor location with the Timbersled intake.

Now to today, elevation 1200', temp 40 degrees, 57/63 gearing, stock silencer with a pod filter and a new stator installed.

Run 1, map a combination of my mapmakers and SLP'S
Top speed 79, lean around powervalves

Run 2, richened map around power valves, to rich to do anything

Run 3, SLP's Map
Top speed 80, but studder has returned, mag cylinder goes down.

Run 4, SLP's map, Stock Pipe
Top speed 79, Pto cylinder goes down

Run 5,PowerCommander unhooked, Stock pipe
Top speed 80, slight sound of a studder around powervalves, but nothing on gauges.

Run 6 map all zeros, stock pipe
Top speed 81, Strong sound of studder but nothing on gauges.

What part of this equation is giving me problems?
Or am I missing something real simple.

Sounds like a power valve problem not map.

How?
I agree that's the common denominator, but there working fine with the stock pipe. I'm looking at the download of the EGT's now and other than the sound, everything looks good.

Have you physically pulled the powervalves to look at them and checked that you have the correct cable adjustment on them? If so, I would like to compare my map to yours. Mine is running pretty good with the SLP setup. I'll tell you...........I tried several maps with my Timbersleds up until last week. I just could not get them to be consistent and I feel like I am a pretty good tuner. I tore them off and installed the stock intake with the SLP add on and it is much better. The only little thing I am still playing with is in between like 3800-4200 when I boondock for a while I start fouling plugs. so I am dropping numbers in that range trying to get it right where it needs to be.

No, I have not cleaned and adjusted them. I just pulled them to make sure they are not sticky and gummed up. In the morning I will have check adjustment so I can rule that out.

Today told me that it's not electronics or the intake causing this.

In the morning I'm going to put the Boondocker back on with the stock pipe so I can make quick adjustments. Then I'll go back to the PC V.

Real simple would be to clean the intakes first, if not try leaning out the spots that are giving you trouble. For some reason when i wanted to buy the power commander v for my 08 m8 they told it wouldn't work i would have to go with the pc3 but either way you can dial that unit in more than many others, wish ya good luck hope you get it dialed in soon check your injector wires as well.

Thanks every one for beating the basics back into my head.

Last spring when I was done for the season I had the 09 update done. I had the mechanic at the dealership "a friend that I trust to work on my sleds"
replace the powervalve cables since he had to remove everything for the update.

Well, when I was having the problems I pulled the valves twice to make sure they were free and working, but never check length.

I measured them today, they were exactly 1.377". The problem was that it was overall length not cable length, so they were not opening all the way.:face-icon-small-blu

Sled now runs great, first map I tried was a little lean around the powervalves, so I tried another and it was a little to rich and gives a little studder around the mid-opening of the powervalves.

So now I know I will be close at elavation.

Thanks again all,
KSH

You had me worried there for a little while. Powervalves seem to be very sensitive. Always check cable length and check to make sure they are clean. You have done a lot of hard work on this setup and deserve some good results!!!!!!:face-icon-small-ton

The one good part of this all is that I found a bad stator before it left me setting somewhere.:face-icon-small-hap

Now I get to go put your programming to work:whoo:

I think that arctic cat motors are gay because they like to be jacked off to run good, mine runs sweet as long as you jack it off at low rpm but once past 4600 its balls out , never misses a lick. its been that way since day one, my only mods are a slp can and a blue pink spring, the only difference is it finishes at 8250 instead of 8050 stock
