PowerClaw on Pro

i put one on my mine with 8 tooth involute drivers. carl's claims through all of their testing last spring this setup was 2-3 sled lengths faster over the stock 5.1 in all situations, everything else being the same. i do think it is a better track then the 5.1.

I'm curious what "all situations" means... Faster indicates a drag race to me.

I have found in side by side comparisons that the series 5.1 in fresh-cold pow performed better.

I've installed/ran the PC 90 duro 153" on 2 sleds now and again on on my new build.

The pro will take Avid drivers however you look at it to drive this track...

The Cat style that I've worked on with Robbie

OR

The strictly involute (no extro teeth) from Avid that Carl's is running now since the PPD/Wahl drivers are NOT avail any longer .

Avid can make them either way for you.

Just call and talk to Robbie.

Some on the forums here have run 3" pitch tracks with 2.86" drivers, BUT.. not a very efficient way to run the track and it will rob power and be more prone to ratcheting.

Although the Power Claw is a 2.25" tall track, you will actually have a hair LESS clearance than the stock 2.4" lug (actually more like 2.33") track...the 8 tooth 3" pitch drivers are larger in diameter than the stock drivers.

7 tooth drivers will not work on the Pro Chassis as the chaincase will rub on the the track.

:blah:

sorry, that is what i meant. drag racing across flats, up a hill, loose snow, hard snow, etc. not sure how else you would get a direct comparison other than drag racing? without having two identical setup sled except for the track, it can be hard to say which one is better and turns into a guess by what that certain individual feels is or is not an improvement. as was my statement that the PC is "better" than the 5.1. maybe it has more to due with all the hype and that i just spent money and energy to swap the tracks. buyer's bias i call it. i try not to let it but i know it can influence my opinion after the money has just evaporated out of my wallet... i was simply repeating how i understood what i was told. my information is not first hand information. enjoy

Pura... I just re-read my post above and your reply..

I may have come off a rude with my comment which was certainly not how I wanted to come off.. apologies extended.

Lighter wallets make you go faster (wink)

Anyway... you will be very happy with that track.

Turkey and snow... doesn't get any better.

MH, never took any offense and never intended any. for me, that is the biggest problem with the internet, the same statement can be taken a thousand ways when you can't hear voice tone or inflection. i've read way too many of your post to think you were trying to be offensive. short, informative, and to the point. without the rest of the bs. i learned a long time ago to not get offended by anything said on a forum. Short of saying, "i hate you and you suck", no offense taken. anyway, back to topic.

Friend just put a PC on his 55 Assault, 8 thooth 3.0 Whal drivers, said it was tight but went in. Only tensioned his track 1/8 inch from slack to obtain correct tension.

MH, If you found the 5.1 to work better in fresh snow, Why switch to the power claw?

Do you think pc performs better the rest of the time? Or??

Maybe I'm confused on your post,

Opinions on the switch to the power claw, is it worth it or spend the cash on pipe and engine mods or both?

My CE 2.5 is working unreal on my pro to date. And all I did is swap tracks. Will know more with more snow but to date I'm very Happy and I'm a very very picky person when it comes to my sleds.

Kej... I live on the west coast..

Sierra Cement. More than fresh Colorado style powder.

There is NO track that works better than all the others in all conditions... Heck.. one of the "worst" tracks, the attack 20 absolutely shines in "blower powder"...

What conditions are you talking about in your own area?

AY,

How much time did you spend on your PRO with the stock 5.1 track before switching and were the conditions comparable?

What kind of snow? (eg wet/heavy, hardpack, wind crust, blower pow etc)

As a die hard Cat guy(I bleed green) I thought the Poo track worked darn good when I rode my Pro last weekend. My dealer told me that Poo changed the duro on the 5.1 for this year. Any truth to this??

I'm told that the Durometer of the 2011 series 5.1 track is the same by a couple of separate sources that are "in the know".

A lighter sled will have a different "feel"

I defer to F-Bomb as he has spent a lot of time on this new sled.

The only way to really find out is to check the durometer. I just orded a duro tester... I'm interested in seeing what is out there and how they compare in the real world. :face-icon-small-win
