I found a $20 bill on the floor at good food store here in Missoula and thought it was my lucky $20 so I used it to buy lottery tickets. I must've been dreaming.

Cause with all the corrupt politicians in both parties, I'll have to work until they put me 6 feet down and then still have to work to pay for the funeral expenses. FML
With taxes in NM that's 566 million cash lump sum. I'd keep 100 million and give the rest away. It's a pipe dream but worth a couple bucks.

I was actually shocked to read how little you actually win. Especially when you decide to take the lump sum payout instead of the payments over the rest of your life. They know most people take the lump sum so they rig it so the state posses a penalty for taking one large payment. The article i read showed that the state that put on the lottery they used as an example got more money then the actual winner did. once the state penalize you for wanting the lump sump payout You end up paying federal, state and capital gains taxes. So yea the state and federal government make way more then you do. People always ask me what its like gambling knowing I live in a state were gambling has always been legal. My answer is always the same. You give me $1 and i wall give you 92 cents back. We can keep it up as long as you want to keep giving me a dollar Your chances of winning something is 92%
What I would like to see is that when the lottery gets say above 100 million that they have 5 or 10 winning numbers, at 200 million, 10 or 20 winning numbers and so on as it continues to grow. That way there would be more winners, thus more happy people?
Looked at one state and if you took the 30 year payout your payments started low during the first years then tripled by the 30th year payout. I would have thought that you would received 30 equal payments, but then would do I know?

It is interesting to see how people react to this stuff. Powerball made it significantly harder to win the grand prize 6 months ago so that the jackpot would increase, and morons would get excited about it and go out and buy tickets. Looks like it worked, congrats on getting scammed.
$2 to daydream for a couple hours a day about what you would spend that money on. seems ok to me
Sure, but I still don't get the hype. I rarely (read: never) play to lotto.
Like I asked a guy at work and the dozen folks that wasted half their day talking about it and putting together a lottery pool last week.....
Would you be any LESS happy with winning a $20, $30, $100Million lotto? I mean once the pot is big enough that you couldn't responsibly spend all the money, what's the difference?

I would do the 30 year plan. It's actually 29 years. I would give one million to 400 different people I have met in my life. Friends, relatives what ever. That would be 30 payments at $33,333 per year. They can buy a new toy(s) every year. And I still would have a billion left. Which I would give away before I die. And have a resident in Minnesota, Wyoming, Alaska, Washington. State income tax on 1.4 billion in MN would be 138 million which I would save by moving for six months or more per year. For that kind of money I could buy a new Pro RMK and a 1000 RZR for every SnoWest member! And then some.
No state income tax in the following states.
Alaska
Florida
Nevada
South Dakota
Texas
Washington
Wyoming

No wonder no one has won yet(although someone SHOULD have won the last one with 400million tickets sold). I personally won 4$ last drawing so naturally I just went ahead and reinvested my winnings into 2 more tickets. It is kinda fun to dream about what could be done with that kind of money, but I don't know what you could do with the money. Does it get deposited into some sort of account??? It would definitely be rough trying to figure out wtf to do with it all

However I didn't realize until recently they changed it in October from 1 in 172Million win to 1 in 292 million win. No wonder no one has won yet(although someone SHOULD have won the last one with 400million tickets sold).
