Power up the MFD without starting?

Is there a way to power up the Multifunction Display using a 12 volt battery? Also, how about priming the fuel pump? Anyone locate the harness where you can do that?

There is a way to power up the MFD. The owners manual says on p.34 in the 'Rider Information Center' section:

Setting changes must be made with the engine running or with the vehicle powered by an external DC power supply connector.

But there is nothing I could see about how to do that. Any instructions would be great to see.

There's little labels on the connectors and one says DC Power which I think will power up the fuel pump and the DC part of the electrical system. Some dealer types should be able to chime in with info from a service manual.

I have electric start. Can I run a wire from the battery to a switch to the 12V plug. So when I want to look at the gauges, I can just flip a switch??????

Is this circuit fused? I am wondering how much load this circuit can handle. Thinking about powering hid bi-xenon solenoids. and possibly other stuff too.

ACC Power Connectors

My Dealer gave me the run down on this. There is a 2 Amp fused connector in the hood harness for the cigerete lighter accessory, this should be used for DC powered devices such as a GPS. The connector in front of the oil bottle labeled DC PWR can be used to power the gauge when the engine is not running, but this connector should not be used for accessories.

For heated shields, the white connector labeled "AC PWR" up by the handlebars should be used. Polaris sells an accessory RCA adapter kit that connects to the AC PWR connector.

Good Luck

Fuse Power

About this DC fuse is it the one located by the DC power up plug. Would I tap into right at the fuse to power koso gauges or where does this wire end up in the wiring harness.

Thanks

I did not see the fuse near the steering column 12-volt connecter, I need to replace it, any pics or hints? Here is why:

I found a different thread about powering up the MFD as I wanted to power it up as I had just put an 05 900 gauge into my 08 D8 and I wanted to check the miles and hours, check functionality, etc. - I bought the gauge off ebay and you never know. When I fired up the sled earlier, the temp gauge was blank, and I can't live without temp gauge so I needed to do more testing.

So hooked up a couple jumpers for + and - to a 12 volt car battery, hooked the - to the brown wire on the 2-wire connecter by the steering post and the + to the red / white stripe one. I think it worked for like 30 seconds including headlights. Then everything went out. Checked my jumpers, no problems there... I started the sled to make sure it still runs and it did. On the plus side pushing in the wiring connectors again and the temp gauge is working.

So it sounds like I need to replace the fuse. Is it a blade style?

Also - if I apply 12v to the white connector near the nose, will I have the same problem or will the headlight and gauge draw not overload that circuit?

Thanks in advance for any help...
