k i just bought a powder special 600 with black magic heads pipes and can and black magic chip and was wandering how much horse power it has

Your heading says 600 but that's a bit optimistic.

I'd say under two hundred.

Actually. bolt on mods many times don't work, or only work under specific peramiters. Cat builds the best pipes and tunes it for the best all round performance.
Allthough, In that sled a lot of baffles in the intake and some safe efi tunning usally make it run too rich. Gutting the intake can lean it out and give you more power. You must check plug color to make sure it's running right. IF you do get more power and more RPM, you should add more clutch weight to bring the rpms back to the right number.

how many sleds do you have? i think i see a new post from you every week in every brand category. The Cat 600 imo is a stone of a motor, it has been since they produced it in 98 i believe, it gets low mileage and just feels lazy. hell, the 580 that it replaced was not a real winner either but at least it was fun to beat on. I think i remember that the 600 was rated at 100HP so if you are lucky it might have managed 110 with all of that stuff bolted on. I like PS but when they have a failure prone motor that is underpowered from the get-go, it does not help their case.

For some reason I'm thinking the factory rated the PS 600 at around 105hp or so? With just a pipe you'd be lucky to see much of a jump, maybe to 110hp.

I've got a 99 600 ps with a BM pipe, chip and clutch kit. I bought it used. Working from memory I thought stock was somewhere between 97 & 105. I was told mine made 117 hp.

D&D claims there getting 136hp or something in that range with there pipes chip, fuel regulator and clutching for 8400-8600rpm, but with my 720 big bore only making 140hp so its your guess, I know my motor runs awesome but have yet to hit snow but it don't run like the 600 I find them very under powered for a 600 in stock form, HP really don't mean tons its how it performs with a good built motor you can beat out sleds with claims much higher

PS 600s definitely aren't powerhouses, especially compared to newer sleds, but there are a ton of them still out there and seem to be holding up pretty good. A bonus is you can get them with EFI!

I had a Powder Special set up exacting like you described and could not get it to run consistently until I wrapped the pipes with header insulation. Seems the airflow over the pipes was killing the performance. After the wrap the engine screamed.

Guessing it may have been 10 to 15% better than stock and the mileage was much better.
