Powder Pros vs. C&A vs. Slydoggs

Looking at gettin a new set of skis. anyone know the ups and downs of these brands (powder pros. C&A XT. Powderhounds)? also considering the simmons flex gen 2. Let me know. thanks

Ran a set of slydogs last year, great ski in the fresh powder. Loved them all year intill about late March. When snow started getting mixed crust and powder they are kind of a handful. They will grab a little bit of the crust and slam the ski sideways. Almost eat it hard a couple of times at Arctic man coming down hill and catching little bit of crust. Like the simmons better that time of year.

Anything works in the powder, and most stock skis work well enough on the trail, unless youve already bought evey thing eles you want youd be better off spending your money eles where. Siminons are more of a trail ski, but dont get the wide ones, there over kill and make it harder to pull the sled up on edge. PP are good for off trail but steer very very heavy on the trail with the 1000's(never rode a 8 with them). Dont know about the powder hounds or C&A as ive never ran them. The stock ski on the M series is fairly good a its FREE

I have C&A Pro XT's, great skis, and cool looking. I think the Powder Pros are just as good, I just like the looks of these better. The Slydogs seems to get a little sketchy going down the trail, pretty dodgy darty. A simmons ski won't dodge or dart unless you happen to fall into a simmons track already there.

i run powder hounds and they work great i will never buy another pair of simmions agian
stock skis work alot better then simmons

IMO anything is better than simmons for sidehilling in anything other than 3+ feet.

I got a set of C&A pros that I put on my 1000, they suck for medium snow sidehilling, kinda similar to the simmons. Too much edge to allow you to kick it into the snow without a ton of powder.

For all around use I'd go with the power pros, powder hounds or just stockers.

I run the powder pro's, I really like em but like Greenman said about the sly dawgs. Mixxed crusty snow can get exiting. All an all I think they are great skis, I'll keep em.

I've run Slydog Powderhounds for 4 years on 3 different sleds. I think it depends on the sled if you ride trails. Rider forward sleds seem to do better with Slydogs. Powder pros and C&As can get real twitchy. But on more traditional chassis I like the more aggressive Powder Pro.

slydogs

in my opinion, if you are going to run slydogs, you might as well run the stock skis. Not much difference IMHO.

I have Sly dogs on a M 7 they work good until spring in the crusty snow, they seem to work good in the powder.
Had a set of CAs on a M1000 and took them off in the spring because it made the front end feel even heavier then it is.

I agree powderhounds float good but thats about it. Powder pros or stock. Just my .02
