Powder Coating

Has anybody ever used Precision Powder Coating or Custom Powder Coating in Anchorage? I've used Advanced Powder Coating and they do great work but I would like to get my parts back sooner than a week or two and I'm not to thrilled about driving all the way out to Big Lake for something small.

Thanks,

-Cameron

Yes I had my A-arms done @ CPC and whilst they did do a good job it was way more $$$ than Advanced. My idea is that we use a thread to organize a "pool" of parts and schedule someone to run up and drop-off an "order" and someone to pick-it up. It won't always work but it would save some time and gas money. I could create a work order sheet that would go along with the parts so that Mark will know what to do with each order. Unfortunately that means that you would need to know what color you want w/o going up there. Just an idea maybe someone can add to it...:face-icon-small-dis

Thanks, that's a good idea but I want it done asap. I called CPC and PPC and it's going to Custom, they are more expensive like you said but they are shooting gloss black today and he said it would probably be done by the end of the day. The other guys are a week or two out.

I go to Willow (where Mark and Walter live) darn near every weekend and know Mark from my years growing up in Willow. If you ever get an "order" together, it's not a problem to drop it and pick it up.

clayton, would you mind telling mark thanks next time you talk to him? he did a great job on all my stuff..........

Mark here from Advanced Powder Coating.

Hey, sorry we are so far out of Anchorage....but us being "willowbillies" kinda like it that way.

For anyone who needs some sled stuff done, our turnaround time would be much faster now. We were slammed this past fall. We are doing our best to take care of all of our sledding buddies. (esp Snowest memebers which we give a 10% discount to :D )
We totally understand if you need to use the folk in TOWN but we sure appreciate your business.

For extra info, there is a currier that runs from Big Lake to Anchorage (week days) for a small fee. He is called Warp Speed and delivers to us all the time. OR you could get in touch with Clayton...(thanks Clay..hows that new M8 doing?) :beer;

Finally got my 990 running great. Need to go riding with your guys sometime.

Regards,
Mark

I'm hoping to move closer out that way in the next few years, don't blame you for being out away from the masses, or maybe I should say messes. You guys do do excelent work and have the best prices, but I had a small bracket I needed done by this weekend and the other guys just happened to be shooting the color I wanted today.

Here's a look at some of Mark's work, the red is really deep and beautiful up close, can't really see the bling-y-ness of the A-arms but they're nice and shiny:D Thanks Mark, Stefan

Ah come on guys...Mark does all my powder coating and I'm in fairbanks :D There's two local shops doing it but they aren't as good as APC, so I support a fellow snowest member.

Mark, the pipes look great with the ceramic coating and my sled ran the best it has all year, thanks again.

go to mark its worth the drive i tried the guy off dowling he charged to much and told me it would be a week. two weeks later i called he got mad and said why do you need it back so fast you cant ride yet anyway and it to another week and a half. plus no one has a bad thing to say about mark

To the guys credit, it was done the day I dropped it off. It was I'd estimate $20 more then what Advanced Powder Coating would have charged me though. It did turn out good. I'll post pics of my little project later tonight.

I don't know if they deliver that far, but Valley Transport (745-7733) takes stuff to the Valley from Anchorage every day and usually only charge me about $20.

I'll be testing it out tomorrow but here is my new gas can and mount. The mounting plate is what I had powder coated.

www.rotopax.com if you want to check it out. I got the 2 gal can and I have another on the way with a mount extension so I can stack them. Oh, and it is a good old vented can, not like those stupid California CARB cans that take 3 days to poor.
