posts on a stator. what does what?

on my stator one of the posts are shot, the top one. (the thin wire wraping) is this the lighting post or does it operate say the efi or other electronics? just wondering if i could get away with driving it the way it is or if its a necessary post?

EDIT: forgot to mention it still gets great spark. nice solid blue zap

ok so turns out one of the exciter coil (powers the ingnition coils) is toast. the green/red and brown/white wires with 30 ohm. so tomorrow ill see in i can get the post rewraped and hopefully hit the trails by next week some time.
