Post your 09 M series, rear skid ,tuning-mods.

Post your 09 M series rear skid ,set ups/mods.

Just figured we need a thread about the 09 m series skids and what improvements people have found. I have read about the Geo mod, seems like there is a love/hate for it. What else is out there and how has it worked?

The Geo mod does not work on the 09's. He will even tell you that.:face-icon-small-win Worked on my wifes 08 M-8 though. Do a search and you will find some setup info on the 09's. It has been talked about:face-icon-small-win
For me the Holtz progressive front shock spring and a re-valve on the float for my weight looks like a winner... A/C seems to use old school shock valving
for some weird reason..

I have been in contact with Holz and I have put my suspension back to stock (had the Geo mod). Set up the rear float to give me 3.5" of droop when I sit on it. I'am also looking into building a reservoir for my rear float.

Holz Revalve

I found myself trying to get my suspension on my 09 M1000 162" Sno Pro to work better. As we have had very little deep powder this year I have noticed the rough ride that much more. I tried to tune it out myself but no go. I live in Lynden and know Mark and Matt at Holz. So I called Matt and he said they could fix it right up. Dropped all four shocks off and picked them up the next day. I noticed there were two springs on my front arm shock now and the insides are probably top secret. I installed them put 50 psi in the front and 125 in the rear. Took my pump with me today but never took it out of the sled. So much better!!! It still an M sled in the rough but the shock action is night and day better. I would highly reccomend this for anyone wanting a much improved shock action on their M-Sled.

I'm just running the limiter strap all the way out, light front spring preload and 110 lbs in the rear shock. I'm about 170 lbs.

Seems to work well in the snow. Really gets up on the snow and doesn't trench. Ride is ok but could be better.

Doesn't transfer a ton, but work great at keeping the front end down while climbing. Makes it easy to ride up through the rough stuff.

I'am done fawkin around with the A/C suspensions. Going all out this time.Baker's new R.E. suspension in the rear and Z BROZ custom shock in the middle and Ohlins in the front. If that works out good, then it's on to the ZBROZ complete front suspension.:D
So to answer your question, I'am pretty much chucking out the whole suspension.
Tired of the beatings:(

I set up the ride height on my sled the way Geo said to and took some of the preload out of the middle shock. It was alot better of a ride and didn't trench near as bad a it used too. So now I just need to get the Holz upgrade. By the way when setting up your ride height make sure you have some fuel in the sled and your riding gear on. I didn't and I think it was a mistake, but the sled still performed very well.
