Possibly purchasing Impulse Turbo system

I am seriously debating purchasing a 4 stroke/Apex and putting an Impulse kit on it.

What Kind of Trackspeed are they seeing out of an Impulse 3071 set up? How hard is it to put a 174 x 3" track under it. I love two stroke turbo's. My M7T is wicked fast @16 PSI, but is a little unreliable. I have 3 buddies that have 5000 miles on their Apex's @ 24 PSI of boost with absolutely NO MOTOR Trouble, and very little Chassis Trouble ect.

Any imput would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Obviously that depends on snow and boost... but 14-15 lbs in a couple feet of powder is around 85 mph on a 2.5" 174 track. 20 lbs is over 100mph on a 3" track. The 2860 at 18lbs is about 75mph in the same conditions on a 2.5"

It requires a drop chain case (Avid) and it improves the approach angle too.

24lbs??? on an Impulse Race kit would be INSANE (ask Zeb). I understand the headaches of 2 smoke turbos. I had an M1000 boondocker that Shain did his magic on and it was still WAY more trouble than my Apex with a boondocker. I now have an Impulse standard 2860 kit and it's way snappier than my boondocker kit, but the 3071 race kit is even more snappy. I will be upgrading to the race kit over the summer.

As for the standalone, I don't think Paul has had much time to work on the the kit this year, so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one yet, but the existing kits don't require much in the way of adjusting anyway.

And here's an update on track speeds. Same hill, same time, same snow...

My standard kit with 2860 @ 18lbs...about 70 mph.

Zeb's race kit @ 18 lbs...about 90 mph, and he was about 600 low on rpms for what he wanted.

What tracks were the above numbers with?
I can only dream of that trackspeed with my little stage 1 supercharger :face-icon-small-coo

Diamond S Turbo

I Run 16lbs of boost and I have been getting 80 miles per hour track speed, sled is absolutely amazing was hanging right along sleds with 20+lbs of boost.

Sounds like Diamond S must have an efficient setup. Is that on a 174? What size turbo?

All of scotts sleds run very, VERY well!!!

Some of the fastest yammi's on the mtn ive seen, and pure talent to say the least!!

Just a little track speed update from Saturday up American Fork canyon...

18 lbs on Apex regular kit on 50/50 fuel with 174" x 2.5 track= 73 mph (my sled)
17 lbs on Nytro stand-alone on pump gas with 174" x 3" track = 84 mph (Paul's sled)
unknown boost on race kit with 174" x 2.5 Zeb's Apex = 109 mph (HOLY CRAP!)

Do ya think the regular kit would be a little quicker if the guy riding it was a weee bit smaller?

When I converted my Rx1 to an Impulse kit I got 2 turbo housings from Paul. Due to the fact that we do a lot of boondocking I used the smaller 0.64 A/R housing on a 2860 and the throttle response was right on super snappy. Since the sled got stolen I never got the chance to try the 0.86 housing as a comparisson which is too bad. I was only running it at 16 lbs which was tons for me, I can't imagine what a 3071 must be like at 18 lbs, there's no way you could use it all in the trees. I miss that sled.

Oh lighten up Ret:baby: Whats Travis get with his 3071? I hope to have mine out soon and ill let ya know what it does with the 174.

Radski i do not know what track speed I'm getting but i will tell ya the Impulse race kit is the real deal. They are very fast with wicked throttle response. If i was doing it all over again it would be the Impulse with out a doubt. No heat issues,no issues with the kit what so ever, wicked power and throttle throttle response and service.

Travis is getting about the same as Zeb...so it's just crazy.

I'm really interested to know what you're getting since I wanna go to the 2871 like you did. Paul was saying it's just wicked fast off the bottom...like it's on nitrous.

I saw the speeds mentioned by Rhett on Sat. All 3 sleds running very well and very fast. Rhett, we need to test track speed with Franklin riding our sleds so we can feel a little better. BTW - nice side hill pull on the goal post.
