Possible wet stator?

I recently got into some wet snow/rain with my mag side of the sled up. it was parked that way for an avy rescue scenario. after that, i ran it for about 20 minutes before the check engine started flashing and i started losing power above 6500-7000 rpm's. i would turn off the engine and clear the CEL but it would happen again around the same rpm. if i stayed below it would run like usual. So, i'm wondering if i got some moisture in the stator that is causing the issue. if so, can i put a heater under the hood and resolve the issue or do i need to pull the stator and clean it off?

any other ideas?

Try removing the pull starter and polishing the outside of the flywheel. I have seen rust on them which could cause poor signal to the ignition pickup.
