Possible Move...Need Suggestions

I might be relocating for work to Oregon. My territory would be Portland-Eugene-Bend.

Where would you recommend living to see the most consistent snow conditions and also have lake/river recreation in the summer months? I am lost and need some help. I have a wife and 2 young kids that are 2+ years out from starting school, so I want a nice safe community....

Southwest WA is not out of the question either...

Thank you in advance

If it was me.... I would live in Bend. I really dont care for the valley at all!:face-icon-small-sho Besides that, Lots of sunshine in Bend. Tons of outdoor type stuff out your back door! No joke on that. JMHO I live south of Bend, near the Cali border

I'd second the Bend option also. Lots of lakes for fishing and playing. There are also major play areas for ATV and motorcycling. Excellent restaurants in old town Bend. Snowmobile riding to multiple major riding areas. It's about as centralized to the all year around fun you can get. (Look at Sandmans Log for some of the riding areas and snow that can be found).

Well Bend has snow 20 mins away and lots of it. Sucky parking on weekends cuz so much traffic up at the snowparks but great snow and a lot of great people to ride with.

If you end up moving here send me a pm with your number, there is a few guys on here that ride thursdays, sat and sundays every weekend

Bend would be my first choice, a lot less rain and better snow. If you have to live in the valley i would go for somewhere like stayton, that way your close to Detroit lake and snow and an hour from Portland or Eugene, two hrs to Bend.
Bend is a lot like ID weather wise.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I kinda expected the replies I got....b/c Bend (area) is my 1st choice.

I appreciate the suggestion on Sisters and also on Stayton as I was unaware of these places. Anymore info on Sisters?

Sisters is a small community right in the heart of the cascades. Very rustic, quilt show community of a few thousand. It's on your way to stayton-salem area from bend going over the santiam pass but just before the pass itself. Bend, better yet central oregon is beautiful. I grew up in Prineville but love Bend. You will also. I would say Bend, you have sledding at Bachelor, fishing the many lakes and rivers, and access to all the big city necessities. I hope to make it back someday. Good Luck

One other option to look at is Oakridge....45 or so minutes to Eugene on Highway 58...30 or so minutes to the Cascade Crest and Central Oregon.
Quiet little town, great school and community with everything your looking for minus the high real estate....
But....with 1500 or so foreclosures in Bend, maybe you can find a good deal.
