Ported Track Question

So I have a line on a used 153 Challenger 2.25". The guy selling it says its ported. I have very little expeirence with ported tracks. The only thing I know about them is that Doo put them on the Summits for awhile and now went away from them again. My main question is will the porting hurt me in floatation? I have a Nytro MTX 153. I am also 6'6" & 260#. I know I should probably be on a 162 but i'm not. So please give me your input.
Thanks in advance.

I am not sure on flotation but I think that is why skidoo went away from the porting. One interesting thing I noticed while riding one time, was the guy with the ported track had almost no snow in his skid while the other five of us were completely snow packed. It was kind of sticky snow but he said it is always like that with everyone he rides with. Just my two cents I can't really say I have an opinion one way or the other.

I think ported tracks was kinda a fad but I would say if it's a good deal buy it. As long as it's not a radical port (more than 2 holes a row) I don't think you will see any downfalls. The cat take off is a good upgrade for the Nytro but if you can afford it the CE 2.5 is a lot better yet. For example my 144x2.5 does everything and then some compared to the cat 153x2.25 challenger I had before it.

if it has 4 or 5 holes across stay away unless its really cheap. 2 holes down the center you should be ok

If the track is ported as manufactured from Camo, it'll be fine. The ports down the middle help with snow evacuation, loose a little weight and are also for sleds that have the no-slip center driver - such as Polaris did a few years back.
