Looking for feedback on porting the 2010 800. Does this engine respond well to porting?

I responds very well. As for bang for the buck it only makes sense if you are tearing it down yourself. Ported single pipers rip pretty good, ported twin pipers rock for a non boosted sled.

I would try a good cut head and twin pipes before porting. It REALY woke my sled up.

thanks guys. 1 for and 1 against.. anyone else? I have an extra cylinder and can't decide to send it out or not

The single piped ported 800 I ride with is hands down better running than my piped PCV. When my warranty is up, I will be sending it to Carls. On climbs, there's about a 3-4 sled advantage and a much more crisp throttle repsonse. 155's with the stock tracks with the same helix and gearing.

Rumor is the Carls twin piped ported 800 will run with the single piped 860. But I haven't ridden the twin piped ported sled so I couldn't comment. The 860 runs pretty good so the twins must make a big difference

Talk with Tom at Carl's Cycle. He has alot of first hand knowledge on the Dragon with twin pipes and shaved head. I had them do a cylinder port and shave the head on mine last year and it is a noticeable difference over stock, it's a good mod for the money and he can help with the clutch setup and ECU flash.
