Portable Oxygen For Recovery

I've often wondered why you don't see a portable oxygen solution for purposes of helping mtn riders "recover" faster from those big stucks etc. Any reason why something like this would not work? Would it help you recover faster? Would it be safe to carry in a back pack? I sent an email to the mfr with these questions as well but appreciate your thoughts.

I've used http://www.betterthanair.com/ products for years now. They work really well at high elevation. Only downfall is that it's expensive as hell for what you get volume wise... The canisters would need a hammer taken to them to puncture.

I have never thought of something like that...great idea. I swim 3 or 4 times a week....110 laps each time with my 100 laps under 60 mins so I think I have developed some cardio endurance until I get into the mountains. I start helping to dig or walking any distance and I feel like I am dying....huffing and puffing..etc etc.
