port timing and 2 stroke turbos

hi guys, just a curious question i have on port timing with a turbo,

i dont know too much but i would figure that it all is a balancing act?, if you made it so your ports are open longer, you could get more air into the cylinder would it not? or well you give more time for the air to move in and exhaust to get out i would think?

i cant remember right now since its been a long time, but the effects of longer vs shorter port timing,

also a ported cylinder with a turbo, thoughts on that?, id figure it just helps the air flow better into the cylinder is all, but no ideas!

so whats your guys takes on it all? thanks!

I know the porting is alot different for turbos then Na im pretty sure its exact opposite! Dont try running Na ports on a turbo I think it tends to lead to det but im no expert!!!! I Think there are gains to be made when properly porting for boost but the only one I know who does it is Twisted Turbos and it seems like its just done on the 1000 i think! Most turbo builders say stock stock stock for the motor stuff when on boost at least thats the way I understood it! Good Luck

Fastrax has Ruth Power do a killer turbo port for the Pro.

I know Shain changes the port timing on the 1000. Might also be why they stay together.

A normal naturally aspirated port job is usually going backward on a turbo.

Turbo specific porting is quite different.

Porting is a science and requires some calculations as well as trial and error. It is not as easy as having a bigger port or having a port stay open longer in order to get more air in. Port heights, angles, timing, and exhaust reactions are all factors that come into play.

IN MOST CASES the stock cylinder porting is better than a cylinder that has been ported for a naturally aspirated application.

A good turbo specific port job will make your turbo sled rock and roll that much more.

yeah i just wanted opinions, ive asked this around in different areas, i run a thicker base gasket which already modifies my port timing, so i wonder if it makes much difference to be ported ontop of a change in my port timing or what, lol

i do have a different sled than a a/c but im just trying to get everybodys takes on the idea of porting,
