polishing tunnel ?? How??

I found a thread in performance but it's preety inactive so any one know how to polish their tunnel? how long it takes and how often you have to do it?? Just any thing about it would be great!!

Jewlers Rouge and a buffing wheel on a grinder. Start with red rouge follow up with white, 3rd step use a liquid such as mothers. Once you have done this you will probably never have to do it completely again. Just use some of the mothers and touch it up once in a while. This is the fastest method and gives the best shine but still be prepared to put in some time, especially the first time you do one. Its best to be able to do it outdoors too as you will get aluminum dust on everything! Good luck.

You add the red throught the tunnel then add the white??

Ya get the wheel spinning fast and touch the red rouge to the wheel so it melts some of it on there then do a section and add more rouge. You'll be able to tell when you start to run out of it on the buffer. Do the whole tunnnel with the red, then do the same thing all over again with the white. The white is a finer polish then the red, thats how you get that chrome looking shine... I started under my seat where it doesn't show until i figured out what i was doing.

I used tripoli for the first time over and then came back with the jewlers rouge. Followed with a buffing with Mothers Billet polish.

Trippoli is a little more agressive and makes getting the tough spots out easier and the whole process go faster.

Be sure to use a new wheel for each different kind of compound.

Plan on spending between 4 and 8 hours on your first one, depending upon how beat up it is to begin with.

Good luck,
Boone
