Polaris update CRANK!!

I have a buddy that has a 2005 RMK 900 159 and he just blew the stock crank. The clutch stub broke off and he was wondering how reliable the updated polaris crank is??? Its only 2mm bigger right and what do you get with the kit? He dont have that kind of money for indydans crank. Any info would be great!!

Thanks Mike

The new Crank kit comes with a brand new Primary clutch, a new 115 belt, the crank, and gakets... great deal.

Now, for the Bad news.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT re-use the crankcases as-is when you put the motor back together... Most likely the cases are shot or need Line boring...If you don't pay attention to this area... you will be up a creek and break another crank.

The new cranks ARE stronger and seem to have a bit better dynamic ballance (less vibration)..

Get the new primary shimmed properly and checked out plus new ballance (the factory ballance/assembly sux)... critical to long crank life.

Adrian Bernards (CV-Tech) in Quebec can provide rebuild cranks (original polaris size) complete with bearings (installed) and seals for about 600 cdn dollars.

He also provides refurbished cylinders if required.

Indy Dan is the best way and he can do more than just straight swaps. For example I burnt a cylinder last year and I just had him true my crank and do the bearings and seals. I know your situation is a little different but if did not damage the cases you could just get the crank from him a little more but he has a better warranty.
