Polaris Primary Clutch

I am wondering if anybody has put thin washers or shims next to there weights on the polaris clutch to stop weights from wearing into aluminum of clutch. Seem to have about .013 side clearance so washers have to be quite thin. Used to be able to get from dealer but he is gone now.

I do that quite often, usually with older sleds that have some miles on the primary. I got a box of the shim washers years ago and use them when needed. Just don't over-do it and cause some fly weight binding.

ive also done this many times. The ones i used were off an Arctic Cat...super little thin shims. I'll see if i can find the part number

I believe the ones I had were for a comet clutch, but fit AC and Polaris. Probably available through the aftermarket. Dennis Kirk, Shadetree, J R Graham, High Performance Engineering.

I am using the Comet shims, but my dealer sold me what I believe were his last set - Comet is out of business and do those are not available from the mfgr any more. Good to know Cat has something similar. I was only able to put one on one side. The best thing you can do to keep the weights from going wonky on you and wearing into other parts is to periodically replace the bushings, and when the weights get worn with notches in them, get new weights.
