My primary on my 09 rmk broke in half right at the end of the crank shaft. I have removed the aluminum portion of the clutch but I need ideas of how to remove the steel center without damaging the crank. Any help would be great.
I broke mine on my 900UBR a couple years ago and had to cut it off too. Took a die grinder with a cutoff tool and cut a pie shaped puece out of the inner sheave half to access the steel snout. Then switched to a carbide burr bit and worked my way through the steel snout lengthwise (parallel to crank) until it was very thin. Keeping your groove as narrow as possible. i ground down a chisel to fit and tapped along the groove until the groove you just carved out split. Then it loosened up and came off. Emery clothed the crank and slapped a new clutch on it. Away ya go. *Just be very careful when grinding the groove to not go too deep. I had my new clutch in hand to guage depth so as not to damage the crank.
